I have been chronically ill for many years and have been unable to attend college because of that. I am now considering online college, but I’m unsure if that is a good idea for someone like me. If it is, what would be some good online colleges for me? I would like to transfer to a “real” college after a semester or two when I am feeling better as I am currently on the path to recovery. Thanks!
What state are you in? I’d look there first.
University of Florida has a nice program for a bachelor’s degree:

Hopefully you are comfortable in a virtual format. Wishing you much luck and clarity on your next step!
Try the University courses at Brigham Young U’s online Independent Study unit. Some are self-paced (good if unstable health) and some are teacher-led.
Also complete free MOOCs that match CLEP tests. Passing the tests can get you credits at the college you transfer into, if the school accepts CLEP for credits.
Plan these options based on the degree requirements of your target college.
Of you’re old enough, look into Thomas Edison college. Its online and low-cost.
Thanks for the quick responses! I live in New York. I’m looking into the programs SUNY offers online, but I still want to see what all of my options are and what will work best for me.
How much does SUNY charge for a 3-credit online undergraduate course?
If you complete one of the online programs from a SUNY cc you’ll have the advantage of guaranteed transfer to a 4-year SUNY. Do you need financial aid? If you qualify for Pell, you may qualify for the NYS TAP (tuition assistance) grant too, but it has to be used in state.
