Church and the Mini-Fridges

I’m catholic, so I will be going to church. Is there one really close to the school? Or should I try to find some transportation.

Also, I need to find a mini-fridge for the room. Is it better to rent or to buy one. If so, do you know a good price to aim for? (Both renting and buying)

i’m sure if you join like a catholic club or something, you’l be filled in on that kind of stuff. or just ask around :]

rides shouldnt be a problem. the church/school club will provide rides for you.

fridge: i bought mine for around $100 at Walmart. I’m not sure about renting. But I doubt it’ll be worth it since a brand new one is only a hundred bucks.

go on craigslist if youre ok with getting a used fridge
you can get one much cheaper

I got one at Best Buy for about 50-60 dollars, but it was the labor day sale. You can also check Frys … there were some for like 70 there.

Most Mass-going students frequent the Newman Center on the corner of Genesee and Eastgate Mall. It’s within walking distance … maybe 30-40 minutes from Price Center, but they arrange carpools at the beginning of the year.

Their website is here: [Newman Center Catholic Community at UCSD](Newman Center Catholic Community at UCSD – Catholic Church). I attended for four years; it’s a really great student-dominated parish with a strong residential community. It’s also somewhat liberal in the spectrum of parishes, but that’s how I like mine :)

so how many UCSD students go to mass @ the newman center?

it varies from week to week, and from service to service. 12:30 mass is probably the most popular, i’d estimate about 50-70 on most sundays. there’s not even a competitor parish; those who do attend other masses only do so because they’re early birds or have a car.
