So incredibly sad. I was hoping he’d pull through after the stroke last week. I can’t even begin to imagine in my head any other more dynamic duo on the stage than Bruce and Clarence.

RIP - You will be sorely missed.

Saw Clarence in concerts with Bruce many years ago. He was great…

We’ll miss you Clarence.

Gosh I’m feeling old.

His and Bruce’s music is the soundtrack of my post college days. So sad.

So sad…so many memories tied to his music…

I saw him with Bruce at the last concert in Giant Stadium few years back. It was great. He is going to be missed.

So so sad…tears on E Street today…we have lost the Big Man, a legend. The Stone Pony is opening today at noon for fans to pay their respects…

Very sad. I’ve yet to see any concert that compares to that given by Springsteen and his band of friends. I feel fortunate that my H dragged me to one many years ago despite my protestations, and we’ve gone to several since. I would not want to have missed those.

I just saw this news story, too. He really was awesome. I agree w/ alwaysamom…

such a loss.

I hate this. I was hoping the big guy would pull through. A true legend.

That just gave me chills when I read it.

No more "Strokin’ "

He had his illnesses, but had come back from his spine surgery and his bilateral knee replacements. He was most recently staying relevant playing with Lady Gaga. I don’t watch Idol but he performed with her live, and worked with her on her most recent album. He had remained a local presence here in south Florida. We will miss him!

sunnyflorida - and of course, this is the year that decide not to follow Idol. I’m assuming I can catch the performance on YouTube somewhere, though. I’m guessing Lady Gaga is now counting her blessings that she had the honor of playing with him before the stroke.

Teri, the song is called The Edge of Glory and I’m sure it’s on youtube. The saxophone solo is near the end of the song, and it’s unfortunate that the audiences on Idol seem incapable of keeping quiet so people can actually hear the song! :)

So sad…can’t imagine Bruce without Clemons…

So sad…can’t imagine Bruce without Clemons…

I agree.

I think that was Clarence Carter that sang “Strokin’”, wasn’t it?

My aunt and I saw Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in 2009 and Clarence Clemons looked pretty unhealthy then, too. He sat for pretty much the entire concert and when he did get up to walk, he could only shuffle. I have always liked him … bigger than life and could really put on a show. He’ll be missed.

I am so sad about this. For this Jersey native who spent many youthful nights chasing the suggestion that Bruce & the E Street band were playing a secret show at some club down the shore, Clarence’s death is hitting harder than expected. I am so glad that I was able to take both my D’s to see Bruce and the E Street Band perform live; D1 got to see them 3 times.

Can’t imagine the E Street Band without him…
