Do they let us know when they recieve our app?

^^Umm…there were two neuroscience Clarkies from 2009 alone. Where were you looking?

^Yes.

ok well i emailed ms. durham and if anybody wants to know, it’s ok for teachers to send recs separately

hm im having some trouble picking areas of research how many did you all pick for “secondary” areas? does that imply just one or can i pick a few?

I picked two,but they were pretty close to my first one. I probably would say one or two if they are related to your number one. You probably shouldn’t pick chemistry as your first and theater as your second though.

I picked biology as my main one, then biochemistry and history as secondary fields. I should have put anthropology (or other, I guess) instead of history as a secondary field, but it doesn’t matter since I got my first choice. Almost everyone pretty much gets their first choice. You don’t really even need to put secondary fields if you’re completely set on your primary field.

thanks for the advice! i decided to put one secondary field but its rather unrelated to my first one… but ah well.

How long does mail take to get from MD–>Texas?

I think I will have to rush mine and hope that my recs got sent (they should have…).

Has anyone ever done education before? (Finishing up app now)

Everything SHOULD arrive on time, but should I email the director with my concerns? Is that obnoxious!

I realized I procrastinated and it’s my fault but ahhhhhhh freaking out.

eh yeah i dont know. i have to send mine tomorrow as well and im wondering if i should rush mine.

usually takes about five days or so to get there, so I would rush it if I were you. I sent mine priority, I expect they’ll get it tomorrow.

all right, ill rush mine then. i want to make sure it gets there on time!

what is the fastest you can send a package? i might have to overnight mine. i’m having a lot of trouble with the narrative. did you guys write it more personally, like informal?

ugh im not gonna havfe it in time for tomorrw. will rush on tuesday, i suppose.

i second the question about the narrative.

^ I am rushing on Tuesday as well. I think that the fedex site has an estimation of shipping times if you make an account there. Unfortunately, I forgot to obtain an official transcript so I’ll have to request for one on Monday and get it on Tuesday

Just so you guys know, my materials arrived six days late. I could tell Ms. Durham was not happy with me. I would say with normal mail the latest you should send it if you live in the lower 48 states is Monday. If they see it’s postmarked at a reasonable date, they’ll probably still consider it even if it’s late.

You write your narrative however you want. Like I’ve been saying, it’s open-ended for a reason. Formal, informal, it doesn’t matter.

What if we aren’t entirely sure what field we want to research? I know the general topic but I’m not sure which category it would fit into, because it’s kind of multiple ones?

Quick last second question:
I was browsing through the thread and I noticed people talking about AP scores a lot. Is there a specific place to signify AP scores on the application that I’m missing?

hm odd i guess i didnt put any ap test scores on mine… too bad i already sent it. did you guys put it for “other” on the tests section?

yeah, i put it on the other. it should also be on your transcript

heyycalifornia?!
