Dear proletariat2 I’m talking about the prestige, not the specific focus of programs.

I know, but I don’t thing they should be compared in the same field, whether for focus or prestige or anything else. For example, one could say TASP is more prestigious than Simons. But what if you go to Simons and with your project become a finalist in Siemens and Intel STS? Which is more prestigious then? There are too many other factors tied in to make accurate comparisons.

Clark scholars is what you make of it…if you are an independent hard working individual, like most of the 09 kids were, itll really be worth your time.

Beyond helping you do research for Siemens/Intel STS/ISEF its a great thing to write about on college apps. I wrote a story about my lab experience and how i learned patience, etc. while working at Texas Tech that I used for some schools

I wrote my Common App essay on Andy Warhol and my experiences with ice cream…

apparently it worked for Chicago and Pomona! I guess Swat just doesn’t appreciate true art…or ice cream.

Andy Warhol is true art? =p

@three3: well prestige in the eyes of whom? college admissions officers, I assume? Well Clark placed 2 to Harvard and 2 to Stanford, places you would consider “prestigious”, out of the 11 scholars last year. The rest have excellent scholarships to absolutely top schools in their majors.
TASP has a bigger name because its resources allow a larger student body. Those who had gone through CS are telling you here that Clark is a better experience =]

^And 2 acceptances to Columbia, 2 to Yale, 1 to Princeton, 1 Brown, 1 Amherst, 1 Pomona, 2 Duke, 1 Chicago…so you know, we do pretty well when it comes to admissions.

Well duh.

Yeah, I’m going to MSU for free (actually, they’re paying me). Another person got amazing aid at Rice, and others got full rides at UNC, Washington and Lee, and aid at other colleges.

:):)
Just got an email from Ms. Durham!!!
Dr. Francisco is still in the process of selecting the finalists (12 out of 15), but apparently some decisions are already out.
Fingers crossed.

Good luck. I’m the Rice person they are referring to. Clark Scholars was absolutely pivotal in my admission to Rice/Baylor MSP (0.77% acceptance).

The medical research was very important (leading to a couple great awards) as was the mentor I was lucky to get, but also the experiences that I could share in medical school interviews (and regular interviews) were invaluable.

Thanks proletariat2/nirvanatear/m.sides for your comments. Frankly speaking, MSU/Rice/UNC/W/… are not at my list. I’m looking for more prestigious schools again :-)

^At least one Scholar got into HYP.

^^Several scholars got into HYP from Clark Scholars last year, and at least one did for this year. That’s a pretty good record. Plus Stanford, elite liberal arts colleges, etc. You can’t aim any higher than that, besides Cambridge and Oxford. Plus, even several scholars who are going to less prestigious colleges got into more prestigious colleges and are turning them down. I’m turning down Pomona and Chicago; another Clarkie is turning down Duke for UNC. And the one going to Rice, Torcher, is going to the prestigious Rice/Baylor MSP. But think whatever you want to think; if you choose not to attend, some other person will have this wonderful opportunity.

lol at this stage I’m pretty sure three3 is a ■■■■■. The moral of the story, though, is that Clark Scholars are beasts and win everything in life.

Why did you guys keep saying others with different thinking as a ■■■■■? Anyway I respect all of you and have read all of the posts. Good luck for us!

I did not know Clark Scholars till recent days when this post is always in the top of Summer Programs. God bless you dream come true.

nirvanatear is absolutely correct!

Well, I didn’t call you a ■■■■■. So now I get to feel elitist because I’m morally superior to nirvanatear. Whoo…

But I don’t know what you mean by “keep saying.” It’s only happened once.

If I haven’t heard from Ms. Durham by now, should I email her?

The email said middle to late April… :(

Yeah, try emailing her. We got our decisions May 2 last year, but everyone else’s has already come out this year.

Ms. Durham said that the final decisions would come out in mid-week this week so probably tomorrow or Thursday.

Btw, receiving nothing is a good thing, HitMan. They are already in the final round of choosing 12 out of 15.

Wait I thought 7 people already said they got in… a week ago?
