I can’t tell you how much of a boost that would give you, but I’m sure it would help. It’s your call as to what to include on your app. And for the essay, sure, if you can answer the prompt and discuss is effectively.

I don’t know; check the application and email if you’re not sure.

Given all your inventions and stuff, yes, go for it.

Nope.

Sounds good. I sent copies of my score reports just in case, and I encourage you guys to do the same if possible, but I don’t think they require it.

Semifinalist: mid-April (really doesn’t mean much; you don’t need to send any additional materials)
Decision: early May

By the way guys, I encourage you guys to notify Dr. San Fran if you win any awards or have any updates after the deadline.

Can our evaluation forms be mailed separately from the my essays and such? My teachers have asked for envelopes and stamps to mail them in, is that fine or does it all have to be in one package? I know other programs lets you ship stuff in separately but I don’t know for Clarks

There’s no spot for them? Maybe then discreetly slip them into your essays? I don’t know. I’m sure they won’t mind having some additional material, even if there’s no space for it.

I think it should be fine. Indicate that they’ll be coming separately so they’ll know to expect them.

Probably not required, but I would just do it anyway.

By the way - proletariat, nirvana, torcher…thanks for all your help on this thread!!! It’s really great to be able to ask questions and get information on the program from people that have actually participated in the application process and the program itself :]

Hey guys,
Do you know if the recommendations have to all be from academic teachers? I gave two to my science/math teachers, but I was hoping to give the third to my debate coach.

Also, I’ve done a bit of research before, nothing major though. Are they expecting us to have been to ISEF/be really proficient already?

I was wondering that if I applied to a science-oriented program, do I need my math teacher to write a rec? Just because I don’t think that she would give me the highest recommendation for the program. Would having my science teacher (taught me 3 courses), my guidance counselor (AP US History teacher), and my english teacher of 2 years be bad? I just wanted to go for best recs over “right subjects.”

Also, i don’t think they expect us to have amazing research. I think we do all the amazing research there :)

I’m no expert, some extra advice would be appreciated!

^Like I said, next year you guys have to do the same thing! :D

Yeah, guys, I think you’re overestimating how much I actually know about the admissions process. I’m just making educated guesses. This summer, you guys should ask Dr. San Fran exactly how they decide this stuff and share with next year’s applicants.

Haha, if we are even lucky enough to get in, I would gladly assist fellow CC members :)

But would it seem odd if I don’t have my math teacher fill out a rec, I mean since the program is geared toward math/science stuff? I was going to apply for biological sciences (but my bio teacher was at a different school lol). So I was going to have my science, english, and history teacher fill out stuff. They would give me the best recs I think. Haha, this feels too much like the college admissions process.

yep, thanks for all the help, and if i do get in, I will do the same…but that is a big IF.

one more question, my transcript is from the school but technically not “official”, those they will send out to colleges themselves. But it does contain most everything except for my psat scores but I am attaching a score report for that. is this fine, or should i request an official copy to be mailed?
