@betdor From our experience (niece and her bf, daughter’s friend, family friends have attended) it wasn’t a big deal. They are/were all from New England though. It’s cold for sure but I think the students embrace it. There are tunnels (in the air, not underground) that connect most academic buildings and the student enter I believe, but not the dorms. Freshman housing is close to that area so at least for the first year your son wouldn’t have to be outside for long periods of time unless he wanted to.
Son accepted for CS within past week and generous merit today
@taverngirl, we are in CT, are you?
@FHS2020 yes, we are in CT! Hartford area. Are you going to the Admitted Students Day?
So S received a very good offer. We are hearing great things about the engineering program. But a 6 hour drive with no plane option is concerning. Also, I feel like people speak about the weather as if kids are stuck in their dorms for 3 months.
I see some of you know people that go there. Do they say the social life is active enough ?
Hello everyone, congratulations to all who got accepted into Clarkson. My son got accepted into Clarkson via Email notice, he hasn’t received official paper mail notice, is it normal? The strange thing is that he received financial aid offer letter a few days ago. Do we need to contact the admission office?
@wahaha18 I guess you could contact the school. Clarkson sends out decisions via snail mail, then updates the portal a week or so later. I don’t think my son received an email at all. Since they send merit/FA decisions out separately, there’s really no information in the acceptance package you need, but if you’d like to have it you could reach out to the admissions department. Congrats to your son!
Thank you @momofsenior1. A friend of mine’s husband just went for a meeting for his company (kind fo funny how he was traveling there from Wilmington just after my son got his acceptance) and he was very impressed. He was able to fly in to the regional airport there without too much difficulty. But it is definitely something we’ll have to think about!
Thanks @taverngirl. My son says he doesn’t think the cold will bother him. I know he does not like hot weather.
Has anyone received notice of merit awards yet?
@cjpski My son received his award letter around the end of January.
@ciociaT and @nh414ct any word on the Ignite scholarship? We were told we’d hear before 2/15. Wonder if they will only notify the top 25 contenders, or if they will send emails to everyone who applied. Any idea?
Nothing here either. Applied for honors as well and was told status would be coming out very soon.
Has anyone heard about finalist status for Ignite? Curious about this program for my D21 next year.
We haven’t heard anything about the Ignite scholarship either.
One would think that in order to avoid a ton of calls from applicants, they would email everyone who applied for Ignite whether they made the final cut or not. At this point we’re assuming S didn’t make it, but I suppose it’s possible that they didn’t release a final list yet.
I called them this morning and decisions have not gone out yet. They said that all finalists will be contacted by end of this week.
Called again today - they’re now saying finalists will be notified on Monday. The waiting is sooo painful! Oh, they also said that all applicants will be notified, not just the finalists.
@taverngirl Thanks for calling and letting us know. Best of luck! Nothing yet
End of day and no email. Today is the third date they’ve said decisions were to be released. Very frustrating.
