bloomington is supposedly an excellent college town and caters really well to its college students, well tats what the magazines and critics say :)

yea, my view on life is that you only live once so you really gotta live it to the fullest and experience as much as you can. tat is one of the main reasons why i applied to IU, gettin out of my comfort zone and “exploring” if you want to call it tat.

tripperian…I meant his so-cal school peers
But, good for you for your sense of adventure as well!! Besides, you’re going to be way too busy in college to worry about gazing out at the mountains…LOL!!

I guess ur right GBAMom.

Thats what Im tryin to figure out…what is there to explore and do over there?

heh i dont meant explore as in o im sick of the beaches and valleys now i want to see plains!! i mean like different social environment/culture. livin in socal, ive pretty much lived in the asian american bubble my whole life and there are other kinds of people and places out there that id like to experience and MINGLE with. tats what i meant about getting out of my comfort zone/bubble.

I know it’s hard for you-guys to visualize this since it’s all new. But, don’t worry so much about the surrounding area…the campus will be your world for the next four years. Especially at a large U, new activities and new people to meet are virtually endless. I was so busy in college that I hardly went beyond the student areas of Ann Arbor. There was no need and no time. From what I saw of Bloomington, it seemed like a fun college town with just the right amount/mix of student-friendly establishments.

Ya Im not very busy in high school, no clubs interest me. But in college, I plan to join Kelley’s finance club, the school’s spirit rah-rah club (do they have one?), and the econ club. Plus, I want to play a few intramural sports. So ya I guess ur right GBAMom, I’ll be too busy.

Bloomington ranks 6th for top Sports Towns, if you’re into that.

Bloomington, Ind.
INDIANA UNIVERSITY
A year ago The Princeton Review named Indiana the top party school in the country. When students aren’t trying to live up to that lofty mantle, they spend plenty of time enjoying the beautiful campus and taking advantage of perhaps the nation’s top recreational-sports program. DEAN’S LIST: Indiana is synonymous with basketball, and the men’s team has won five NCAA titles. But the men’s soccer players (five championships) and men’s swimmers (six) are no slouches either, even if the football team (no winning seasons since 1994) is. THE SPOT: The gathering place for postgame festivities is Nick’s English Hut on Kirkwood Avenue, where you can play Sink the Bismarck, a drinking game unique to IU in which people pour beer into a glass that is floating in a wine bucket. Whoever “sinks” the glass has to drink its contents. REQUIRED COURSE: Watch, if not participate in, the Little 500, the springtime intramural bicycle race which inspired the movie Breaking Away. EXTRA CREDIT: Rocker John Mellencamp is a Bloomington resident and frequently attends Hoosiers football and basketball games. The school’s indoor practice facility and training center is the Mellencamp Pavilion. IF BLOOMINGTON WERE A CELEBRITY IT WOULD BE…Jason Biggs – a little square at first glance but with a surprising capacity for dangerous behavior.

I remember Nick’s on my visit! lol

heheh ima join the management consulting club, if there is a community service club then sign me up and probaly do intramural sports
i ono, i really have to chek this stuff out during welcome week and see what my class schedule will allow me to do.

7) tripperian35
8) Calcruzer’s son
9) parikhs

See, Dcho? Parikhs isn’t lazy. He gets an A, too. LOL

Another reason to celebrate for all you business majors. Kelley came in #10 in Business Week’s ranking of the best undergraduate business schools…awesome!!

<a href=“Businessweek - Bloomberg”>Businessweek - Bloomberg;

^ unfortunately, that ranking is a bit questionable and is currently in heated debate… besides whatever the “undergraduate” rankings say, kelley is a solid school :)

psh, i couldve gotten an A too!!! parikhs only did it right cuz he saw the PREVIOUS posts!!! cough suckup cough cough

Really? Didn’t the ranking just come out? What’s being debated? So, Cal, Cornell, and the other elites are PO’ed about not cracking the top 10?? Well, I’m sure Michigan wasn’t too happy with its quality measure grades.

Well Cornell didn’t break top 10 in USNEWS anyway. I’m suprised at the “Recruiter Survey Rank” w/ Indiana being 5 and UPenn 17…***. Indiana has A’s down the line though :). It seems like its good on the job market.

parikhs, personally that ranking is a bit off. you notice how byu is in top 10? i mean it beat out berkeley haas, carnegie mellon? you and i both know that is not right… i mean some parts of the ranking would make sense but the other ones seem like the guys at BW just closed their eyes and put them in randomly

out of the 8 other people going, are any of you from indiana?

i know a couple of u aren’t

heres two good sites you might want to check out:

studentsreview.com

campusdirt.com

tells you more about what life is like at IU

The people who do those business rankings know what they are doing. They put schools places for reasons. They are better at doing that than any of us. If BYU is #8, then i’m sure they have their reasons. Personally that speaks volumes for the school, as it’s mormon, and they don’t get the student body that others get.

Thanks for the links, Mike. Here’s another one, which of course you should take with a grain of salt, but it’s interesting to see how some of the IU students have rated their professors:
