Class of 2010 Roster

Anybody plan on joining the water polo club?

Me and Dcho177 are from Cali.

I’m also from Cali

I’ll bet you can tell from the name that my son is from California. We live by the coast and he was on the Sailing team (Gold “A” team) for the last two years. They finished 10th in the state last year. His former sailing partner (there are 2 people to a boat) now sails for the MIT team in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

I don’t think he wants to be on the sailing team while at Indiana (it’s a ton of work and practice was about 6-8 hours every Saturday), but I do know he wants to do lots of intramural sports while he’s there.

The moment the name Indiana pops up, you get this impression of boredom, farms and nothiing to do.

Can someone please enlighten me on what there is to do in Indiana other than partying and studying.

How is the intramural scene there?..Clubs?..What is there to do in Bloomington?

I’ve been told that the soccer program at IU is extremelly successful, anyone got more info on this?

Take a look at this link:

http://www.indiana.edu/~sao/studentorganizations.htm

There are a lot of clubs and intramural sports there. There’s also an organization called IUBeginnings, which is a group that takes several trips in the great outdoors, where you can camp, kayak, go rock climbing, etc. I don’t know if that’s your thing, but even if it’s not, you’ll find something of interest there. It’s a big school - there will be plenty to do.

they dont have the sport that i play for intramurals, ice hockey

Yeah they do…they have both roller and ice hockey. Look at the site Aimhigh posted.

I thought there was a finance club…it said there wasnt one.

There is one, but not sure if its called Finance club.

Were u able to find a finance club GBAMom?

yea thats not intramural though, thats a club sport where you have to try out and stuff. looks like theres a lot of other stuff to do though

Mike: Club sports are not D1 varsity athletics. It sounds like you already play hockey? Even with tryouts, I’m sure you’d have a chance of making the team if you have playing experience. The Club level is just a little more competitive than intramural, where you have a coach and play in a league with other colleges. It’s a great way to meet people and have fun. Go for it!

Thanks for the link.

A little off topic, but…if I were to transfer in after one year at a local JC, how much money do u think I could get in scholarships? Would it be less than coming straight in as a freshman? Also, is there work study at IU?

Only one scholarship for OOS tranfers?!?! Thats sad.

Those transfer merit scholarships aren’t worth much either compared to the faculty awards for OOS freshmen. So, you may not start as a freshman at IU?

It depends. I first found out that IU’s OOS tuition was 16K+, thats y I applied there because it was cheaper than Ohio State and Texas (which is going to increase OOS tuition dramatically soon), and then I found out that it was 19K+, which changes some things. So I might have to go to my local JC for one year, and then transfer over. But I really dont want to do that, so if any of u guys have info for cutting down costs for an OOS kid, please let me know. Thanks
