My son is going to be a Buckeye!

Barno: Congrats to your son–nice present for the holidays!:)

momonthehill: thanks, you hit it right on the head! It was also quite a surprise, as the admiss. office said that he wouldn’t hear until Jan. at the earliest.

Happy Holidays to all, and good luck!

Accepted:
30 ACT
11/560ish
good ecs

submitted app on november 30th, received acceptance letter today, waiting for honors invitation
(engineering, btw, but i’m considering finance)

I hope no one minds if i use this thread for this; can anyone speak about OSU’s business program? I dont know if I’ll like engineering. I’m great at math, but not so interested in building things etc…but i love calculus and working with money…so, how is OSU’s program in finance?

mmkay, I don’t have personal knowledge, but this looks like a good program.

When you check your application status on the internet, does it say you are accepted? Just wondering how OSU is doing things.

uh thanks and yeah when i check my application status, it says “decision” and if you read underneath it says “congratulations…(insert whatever)”
I dont think they tell you whether you got into honors though on the internet, only through mail.

Thanks. Good luck to you.

I applied Dec. 1st, got letter on the 23rd. Stats were 2150 on SAT, 32 on act, 3.6 gpa.

Anybody heard back from Honors yet, that applied around Dec. 1st? When do we hear from scholarships and Morrill?

Rudy, Morrilll goes out the first week in April, 2007. It seems scholarship stuff is being mailed out right about now, probably in order of admission decision. Hold tight, I got my honors information about 2.5-3 weeks after I was accepted!

Ok, sounds great. I can’t wait till this Honors stuff rolls in, to see if I got in!

My girlfriend applied on November 30th and just received information about Honors and Scholars.

Did that come in the mail, or is it checkable online?

Just got a letter today. No word on H&S.

When my daughter found out (by checking her status online) that she was accepted, it was about a week before she received a letter in the mail confirming the acceptance, but with nothing else except a “Welcome to Ohio State” type of brochure. After another week, she received a phone call welcoming her to the University and a few days after that she received her Scholars Program info. So it takes a litle time, being in the midst of the holidays.

OSU is one of my reach schools…I submitted the online portion 12/10, went into evaluation on 12/20 and is still under eval. It is basically the only school I want to go to although I do have safeties. What do you think my chances are?

White male/out of state

1600 SAT

2.9 GPA (frosh year I had 2.0 and 1.3, then I moved an hour away and got a 3.8 and 3.6 soph year, 3.5 and 3.0 junior year with a 3 on the AP Hist Exam… took honors english and honors trig)

Im currently taking honors Econ/Gov,AP Bio, 3rd year of French,Adv English Lit, and Pre-cal

Decent amount of ecs

I go to one of the best schools in the country, top 5% academically in test scores last year.

Rank top 50%, seriously weighed down by my frosh year perf.

Im worried that my frosh year perf is considerably taking down my stats, yet some people have told me it is OK since schools will look at my gradual perf and focus on soph-junior year. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance.

I think you’re in.

Many people haven’t applied yet.

You’ll get your decision very soon.

hmm…it’s hard to say…that 1600 is out of 2400, right? (if it’s out of 1600, then you’re in, no question, lol.) Anyway, 1600 is about a 23 on the ACT…and OSU’s average ACT is about 25. Your GPA is slightly lower than average also…OSU is a big numbers school and you’re out of state, so your chances are really hurt by those…but anyway, don’t give up hope, you never know.

Since you’re out of state, it could be difficult. Why did your GPA increase when it seems you moved to a much more competitive school? The fact that you really pushed yourself with honors/AP says a lot. I wish you had taken the ACT, because it might have been better than the SAT score. Still, you have a shot, but since you applied after December 1st, there are no scholarship opportunities (and the ones you were still eligible for, I don’t think you are with your stats). Good luck, though! You never know if one your ECs will stand out or some admissions counselor will like your essays, or if they don’t have anybody from your state yet.

Yes, my SAT score is on a 2400 scale lol…kinda regretting only taking it once but there’s nothing I can do about it now. And my GPA is right on par with their average if you take out my frosh year…so it’s kind of nervewracking just thinking about how they’re going to look at that. Also, I have a couple friends who go there and they were telling me that being out of state might actually help, yet you guys are telling me it wont…very confusing. Anyways, thanks and I’ll keep you guys posted.

I recieved a letter from H&S congratulating me on my admission at OSU, but the online page still says ‘evaluation’. I guess it means I am accepted here, but I don’t know.
