Class of 2012--Anyone Heard Anything Yet?

Just checked S status the blank line just says March 25. That’s all we have so far.

momsonfaith – I just checked my D’s as well, and it has the same thing. It didn’t have that blank line before, and the date is also March 25. Based on what I posted a few messages back about my conversation with the Admissions Office, it makes sense that the 25th could have been the day they “processed” or printed out their decision letter and got it ready to mail. If, indeed, they SENT my D’s letter out on Wednesday the 26th, it would have likely been PREPARED to send on the 25th.

Just my guess, but it’s a guess!

Our blank line is December 26th. We auditioned in November. However, the admissions office analysis and SAT scores weren’t posted yet, and we do have all of those listed in February. Some of the kids who auditioned did not get anything posted about admissions analysis (or however it’s worded) on their sites. S did not have a phone call and is expecting a denial, in fact, we’re ready to send the deposit to his selected college this weekend. Also, we have never had an application completed note on the screen. I don’t think you can really read anything into the web site, as another rumor was if you had the admission thing and the audition fee waived information you made it. I am going to ask for my money back if he doesn’t get in due to the audition fee waived information.

Just saw my CMU rejection on the online status check. That might mean something good is headed your way, Happymom. Mine was blank until it said “Not Admitted”. Just gotta keep my head up!

My S’s letter from CMU came yesterday (dated March 26th). REJECTED (expected, at this point). It was a form letter from the admissions office–nothing personal from the Drama Department. Gave up checking the on-line status after MANY calls to the admissions folks with no changes or updates over many months.

Seems like a good idea to follow up on the “audition fee waived” note, although I’m sure that will go nowhere.

Hey everyone-- I auditioned for BFA Acting, but I figured no one would mind me posting on the MT board.

I still have not received any news from the school-- no phone call, no letter, nothing. There’s nothing posted on my Where Am I In The Process? page either. The thing that’s really odd is that it says an “admission decision notification letter” was sent on February 21st-- but I definitely never received anything.

I guess it’s pretty obvious that I’m not in at this point, but I’d still like some final confirmation! Is anyone else as out of the loop as I am??

SCL…I would MOST definitely call them!!!

Checked online this morning and unfortunately my son, R, was “not admitted”. After participating in last summer’s MT Pre-College, he/we felt this would be the perfect school for him. I’m taking it much harder than he is. He was accepted to Tisch and is now looking forward to that. FA at NYU is disappointing, however. Oh well, all things happen for a reason, right?

My D online status now reads waitlisted!!!Yeah! It also says a letter was mailed out on March 20th which has not arrived, but our mailman doesn’t like us or our big bad dog very much!

Way to go! Wait listed at CMU! It’s tough though, not to be able to put closure on anything for a while. . .

My D got a letter today from CMU offering her a spot on the Priority Waitlist for MT. We had completely counted this one out at this point, so it was a MAJOR surprise!

However, the odds of one of the very few girls they’ve accepted not taking their admissions offer are so slim, that we aren’t counting on it. We’re leaning toward making a final decision and just moving on. We’ll think on it for a few days for sure. But regardless, we are thrilled that she got this far!

Congrats to all on the waist list. That’s wonderful to be on such a great list!!!

Hey folks, I got my letter today. Well, its a bit of a disappointment and a surprise at the same time. I got owned as far as Acting goes. No wait list no nothing. But magically, as if God is poking fun at me I got priority wait listed for a microbiology major. Well, I guess I’ll move on from acting to curing cancer. What a trip. I have to choose between CMU microbiology and no scholarships and University of Texas acting with 13K. What a pain. Sorry I’m a little bitter. Whoever made this decision has a cruel sense of humor. Wish me luck and decisiveness because its down to the wire. I’ll keep you guys updated.

Got in! but irrelevant here because it wasn’t for MT

Soooo. . .was it for ACTING? That’s relevant!

Garool–every once in a while there is a post that makes me laugh out loud. Yours is one of them. Unbelievable!

Congrats to those who got in (or wait listed) for MT or ACTING. What a feat!

He likely got in for another degree program at CMU. The CMU MT Forum appears at the top of the CMU forum page and so I can see how someone visiting the CMU forum on CC might post accidentally on the CMU MT Forum which appears on that page on CC.

EDIT…in fact, in looking at the CMU forum, I see that Garool got into CMU’s BArch program! Hooray for Garool…no easy feat there either!

I was also suprised to hear that I’ve been put on the wait list! I wonder how mant they will take from it… Does anybody have any clue?

My S was priority wait-listed for both MT and A at CMU. I wonder if a student who is wait-listed for MT is automatically wait-listed for Acting, since CMU apparently regards MT as a double major? I have the same question as MangoLover, do students regularly get in off the waiting list, or is it a rare event?
My S is, in the meantime, making a difficult decision between two other schools, one which is for MT and the other which is a BFA acting program. He will send in his deposit for his choice before he gets the final word from CMU. This has been one VERY LONG year for him and his parents! I have great admiration and empathy for all the young people who went through this arduous and emotional process!

sylvie- My D was priority waitlisted for MT only. She was specifically going for MT, although I’ve heard of situations where someone who auditioned for MT was later offered a spot in Acting. But as far as we can tell, she was only offered the MT waitlist. So, I really doubt that they are automatically waitlisted for both.

As for the chances of getting in off the waitlist, I guess there’s always a chance – but we’re moving on happily with another decision and aren’t waiting around for that possibility. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to call the admissions office and ask.

Does anyone know how many MT girls and how many Acting girls CMU usually takes? Have they ever gone over that limit?
