karkip, where did u get into??

well done all CCers bocca, utsabdhoj,bnks12,renaitsme and others for your success

Cheers

guys, how much do you think can a Nepali student earn in average in Summer, Winter and other breaks? I know this can’t be genralized but I reckon all of u must have a figure in mind. Please also mention the reason why you’ve estimated the amount. If u have information from a seniopr student, it is welcome.

For me…total earning should be around 7000 to 8000. It’s just a guess.

jasonshah
I got no acceptances till now.
All my hopes rest on Jacobs.

is anyone yet to receive Williams decision?

ya i am one, i have not received my Williams decision yet… and i know a few who have not either…

i haven’t received it either,

I haven’t. I’m sure that means rejection.

Where is South Harmon Institute of Technology?

hahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahaha

Havent you seen Accepted?

Nopes. But I can guess where it is now. ;)

yea a great movie to assure hopes to those who weren’t accepted anywhere like us.

anybody accpeted into skidmore and davidson?

ok boys , those who have been accepted into some great colleges here is my a bit of advice for u all who want to earn a little money. only after getting your US visa you take a day break and hang over to all the consultancies that flourishes all round the valley. you can bargain your acceptance at princeton, harvard, yale, mit… with these consultancy either with a laptop or a plane fair. As they are always spending loads of money in the add in kantipur or himalayantimes, i dont think they will be greedy enough to pay you 50-60k for your photo with mit , harvard tag. and dont be manavtabadi saying that it is false because whether you do it or not , they still will be lots of students looking for consultancies for their processing. the only difference you create will be that some consultancies will get more students by posting your names.

how is the idea?

Hey MCL III,
I apolozise to say that your idea is absolutely rubbish. When a person is accepted to ivy leagues, he becomes a special one. Moreover, his every need is met by the university. The colleges also spend thousands of dollars on the enrolled student. To publish one’s photo in some newspapers just for publicity and a few thousands rupees means that he/she is a too stingy person. It is like making fun of oneself.

Moreover, it will also mislead many upcomming applicants as they will start thinking that consultancy can send them to ivy’s as well.

I think, every one should condemn these consultancies who are sending some brilliant students to Worst universities.

^Truest words ever.

Most Nepalese donot like much publicity anyway. Atleast I would hate it if I ever saw my own photographs in those utterly misleading advertisements of the hundreds of consultancies. Seeing someone’ else’s would be much of good laugh though.

and also, please do remember to withdraw your application from Berea as well as Jacobs

and yes…well said Zangokar

a student from bnks(hastings) has already gotten into berea . so i think we have no chance of being admitted there as it takes only 1 international student from nepal.

A lot of Nepali students haven’t made into good colls (some even in none. I know how it must feel). What do you think were possible the major reasons?

I’ll start from me.

I am not sure what went wrong with me. I have OK SATs (made into 25% of many schools and 50% of some), gr8 TOEFL, gud list of ECs (My high school Ecs were great. I think it demonstrated my all round nature and abilities. the same for my outside ECs), avg. essays (I can’t change how I write essays. Even though they were last-minutes, I still believe I couldn’t have done much difference. It is how I write. I reckon my why essays were good) and very gud GPA and rank. Recos were very good and emphasized my gud points.

I don’t know why I got rejected. Being an international student asking for high aid (only able to pay sround 2000) must have hurt my chances. Still, guys from Nepal have gotten in into good colleges. I don’t think their 100 or 200 greater SAT than mine did any difference. My high school and ECs are above average (i can’t rate this much higher as I do not know much about others)for Nepali international applicant (I m not bragging). So, final conclusion :Must have been the essays…

if any one is willing to read my common app essay, i’d be happy to pm you. Your suggestions’ll help me know about my mistakes and make some changes in the way I write.

congrats to all who got in…there’s no lucky acceptance. u all deserved it.
I’m not taking a gap year, since I can;t pinpoint what went wrong. In total, I believe I projected my self pretty well. I am going to a stae uni or low cost private uni/coll
