Class of 2012 from Nepal

Is the Dartmouth candidate from BNKS likely to get accepted?

Likely???
Decision aayo. I am deferred.

my EA results are out on mid january. fat chance of getting in seeing that so many of you guys have been deferred and one has already been accepted.

kushalpurie, if you do not mind your language and use only english, the admin team will just block you and delete such posts. keep that in mind.

For those who really want to have a look at the stats, heres an extract from the Dartmouth boards:

**Decision: Deferred **

Stats:[ul]

[] SAT IIs: 760 Phys, 760 Chem, 730 Math2
[] GPA (w/uw):4.0 I guess, my school doesnt calculate a GPA, but straight As in the finals would amount to the stated GPA
[] Rank/Percentile (# out of #) or %: 1 / 78
[] Total AP’s/IB’s taken (score): A levels( Phys, Chem, Bio, Maths, GP), straight As
[] Course load: Tough
[] Other stats:
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]

[] Teacher Recs: One of them was supposedly good, the other, it seems, made things difficult
[] Counselor Rec: Fine enough
[] Interview: Sucked
[] Major EC’s: Stellar ECs, everything from leadership positions at school and outside to website design to being an ace swimmer
[] Work experience: Volunteer at an NGO, teacher at a a private college of repute, past experience shows that my high school’s whose graduates with similar SATs of lower have regulary been accepted into ivies, higher the rank, better is the college you get
[] Hook (if any): International, from a country ranking 144th on the HDI, and a school of excellent repute among US colleges
[] Notable weaknesses (if any): one goddamn email where I just lost control with an admission officer, she replied politely though

[] State or Country: Nepal
[] School Type: Semi-public ( Trust school)
[] Ethnicity: South Asian

[] Income Bracket: <10000
[] Financial aid?: income says everything
[] Intended Major: Biomed
[li] Other schools in mind: Seems like I should set my sights a bit low[/li][/ul]Other Factors:

General Comments: Someone who used to study in the same school and had failed physics dismally has been accepted. Those nepotist adcoms, I will get at them someday.

But I must consider myself lucky. People with a 2350 in their SATs have been rejected

looks like 3 guys have been accepted in gettysburg.
so colleges do accept 3,4 nepalis after all. so why do we all fret about which college has accepted one student and which hasnt?

SKUNK is KB accepted there

wow. great stats bocca. but if such stats dont get u into colleges, what does???

no idea yet, manasm

btw, bocca. i heard abt your interview. maybe he played a major role in the admissions game.

guys…don’t lose hope already…you just need one good college…that’s all you need… if we go back into time…even I got into just one college (out of possible 25)… which thankfully has been good to me…so just count on your stats and lil bit of your luck as well and hope that u will end up somewhere good… Again…Best of Luck ppl :)

Hey Bocca, did the other one get accepted at Dartmouth?

Joshi,
the other one, the one with the SAT score of 2220, was rejected outright. Haha.
but a girl who had left BNKS for an American UWC got in.

And skunk, the dartmouth common data supplement indicates that interviews play a minor role in admissions, they are only ‘considered’ and nothing more. All the same, Fr. Greg had promised me he would recommend me to the adcoms with all his heart.

Who is Fr. Greg anyway…the one who took ur interview / alumni?

Dont know what to do… I think I should go for ED2. THen again, if I clash with a girl with stats that are nowhere near mine, even then, she will have more chance. Atti yaar. Totally confused. YA and smith collge
1 girl from Budhanilkantha
1 girl from Universal Academy got in

BNKS 12, in that case you should not choose colgate for ED 2. I dont know if I will get in or not, but I am certainly one of the deserving .(hehe, now dont get afraid)
skunk: dont be surprised to see my optimism here. It is just that I am too bored to be a pessimist now. I have already lost one ED due to this ugly:pessimism"

rena, it is surprising to find you optimistic. I always considered you the GURU of pessimism.
btw, there’s always ED2.

oh, thanks skunk. After all, i mastered in pessimism as well. need tuitions? i will give them for free. anyone interested ? please contact me

JOkes Jokes… ya I aint considering colgate for my ED2 afterall. Looking for something different. I will show the girls that Dickinson defering me was Dickinson’s loss not mine. HEhe No offence to anyone…

new kid on the block
