Class of 2012 from Nepal

I think “override” would be a little strong word here. My teacher suggested that one of my friends take the SAT 2 subject tests again instead of re taking the A Level Exams. ( He got a D in Physics). If one doesnot do quite well in either of the three subjects (P, C or M), at one or two instances( Say the finals), then the SAT subject test scores will help you. But, if your grades are consistently ( say not good), then SAT subject test scores should make no difference.

@ramjet:
I am edying to Colgate.

san123: So you might have got the reason why I am too hysteric about my sat scores right?
It is just that I think only my SAT score could stop me from getting into college s I want. I have got no legacy at all. My essays are a bit risky. and I am the first one from my college to apply to any of the top 30 colleges in the US. In my coolege, no one even knows that any college named" Lafayette" or “Oberlin” exists. so may be I am not very sure about what lies further in this app process. anyways, while you all are here , i will not have problems regarding the process. But I am really tensed because of my SAT scores.

@rena-itsme:
Does Cuyahoga Community College accept commonapp?

@ rena-itsme: What about the IFSAA? And how many teacher recos do I have to send? This cuyahoga is driving me crazy.

I wholeheartedly support skunk…lol

my goodness!
I am sorry I dont know anything about Cuyahoga Community college. I am not applying there.

I totally agree with davincicodes…

Trans, i appreciate your frankness and willing to extend your help. Thanks for clearly telling us the amount we can earn during summer.
And, are there safety colls for us after our rd decisions in april. I donot want to waste a year at any cost.
And, bocca and bnks, why r u guys interested in cuyahoga?
Trans, aren’t there other colls like caldwell for nepalese?

Happy New Year to everyone in this thread. Hope those who r applying will get good colls. Best of luck.

rena-itsme
you dont need to worry… i mean it makes sense to be skeptical as long as you get the decision that you are accepted but still stay calm, no college would like to miss a good student just cause he did horribly in a SAT exam…several factors come into play while making a decision and SAT scores doesn’t matter a lot…you wont be rejected just cause of SAT

davincicodes,
ya you are right about what you said…l i believe SAT scores won’t be the sole reason for denial of admission…

trans
that was a good post with lots of information for people applying to US especially cadwell but there is one thing that i strongly disagree with you…

“You don’t have to associate with america-which is hard to do, especially there culture is highly different. You may think to yourselves that I’ve seen all those Hollywood movies, and I know nuff about the US. Well this is real life, filled with racist people who are hard to make friends with.”

guys trust me Americans are the best people to deal with…ok as far as i have found it wont be wrong to say that they are lot better than nepalese people…very co-operative, lively,…and its very easy to associate with these people…fun to be with…and they aren’t racist at all!!!..indians and nepalese are the most racist of all…
ok this is my own experience and i think most of the nepalese in US will agree to this

i am a new member…
i knew with great shock that there are already 9 ppl eding 2 to Hamilton…how come hamilton get so famous this year!
i have also submitted my ED 2 to Hamilton, ani i know some 3 other people who submitted their ED 2 to Hamilton…that makes it 13 including myself…

good luck to everyone!

davincicodes- you must know better baout your mates than me, those are the stories i heard from the other bnks guys, thought i’d share…

san123- some are ok, and we do associate with them, but you will not have the familiarity of closeness with americans as you experience with nepalis.and i take your word for the fact that indians and nepalese are not good people, but if you have close nepalese frineds, it doesn’t matter that much. with americans that barrier will always exist. i like the fact that here we don’t have to associate with any americans or ask them for anything. international students are our good friends.
regarding other colleges like caldwell, there are tons of college. you’d have to research a bit more. the ones i know are st.peters, st.johns, luther, etc.

And regarding Adcoms.not to be pessimistic but there is no other way to evaluate candidates than SAT. One factore equally or more important than SAT is personal essay. So write stellar essays that deisplay not only proficiency in writing skills but also reveal an insight into your personality. ECs and recos(except if you are from bnks) don’t, atleast thats what I think and believe, will not make a difference. Work on those essays and SAT.

ok ppl. i think too may of you are applying to the same big name colleges for ED2. that’s the worst that could happen. Plzzzzzzzz don’t do that. the following colleges will meet 100% of your need if you are admitted…

thanks trans_intl2007. Its a gr8 list. I whole heartedly thank you for the support you are giving us.

It would have been icing in the cake if the list was available earlier…Anyway thanks. And Happy New Year.

I have an important matter in my hand…

I have not shown my sister as ‘dependent’ on my parents’ income. I have also thought not to mention my sister in the Common Application. (Mentioning elder siblings in the ISFAA is quite a problem - some financial stuffs).

My question is - will the embassy know I have hidden my sister’s identity? I heard that the colleges might send I-20, Certificate of finances and bank certificates (i m not sure). Is the information about siblings mentioned in the I-20. If yes, than it could cause some trouble in Visa process (nata pramadit stuffs — The I-20 may mention I have no siblings. To add to my miseries, my mother had once applied for visa, so they have the records. I might be caught.)

If no such information is mentioned, then I can show my sister in (nata pramadit) the Visa application coz the Embassy won’t know what i have mentioned in my Application (common or whatever)…

Please help me out…

guys my will it be fine if i send my supplementary essay later with my jan1 deadline college???i’m worried… anyone???
