Class of 2012. Low GPA/High Sat

What colleges should I be looking at with these stats? Thanks for the help
3.0 GPA
Competitive School
Rigorous Schedule (AP BC Calculus, AP Spanish, AP Us History, AP Lang Comp, AP Literature, AP Bio)
SAT-2220 (780Verbal, 740Math, 700Writing)
Good EC’s. Good Essay.
Hopefully my GPA is a 3.3 by the time I apply

Discipline incident- 1 week long alcohol suspension (Will explain, good lesson, show how I have changed)

Chance me at:
University of Maryland
Penn State
University of Scranton
University of Michigan
University of Delaware
University of Richmond

Most state-universities don’t even ask for discipline information. If you’re applying private you may have to disclose it. It may hurt you, it may not. It just depends. Nothing you can really do about it.

That’s a very good SAT score and will most likely be adequate for those schools. The hardest two you listed are definitely Maryland and Michigan.

Regarding your GPA, if you go to a rigorous school and have a low GPA, chances are that might be reflected in your class rank. If not, it will indicate to the school that kids are still doing well even though it’s a rigorous school and will disregard your claim that your GPA is low because it’s hard. They will consider your rigorous courseload though, so that will help you.

My only advice from here is to try and get your GPA up as best as possible. Colleges love improvement over the years. To show them that you raised your GPA toward the end of high school and that it didn’t drop will look good.

I would say you have a solid shot at those schools. Will also depend where you live. Good luck.

Thanks. Anyone else have any ideas?
