<p>awesome, hopefully i will get to meet her. placement exams are taken during the week of Orientation, including those for all foreign languages.</p>
<p>the dept. has a class called Theaterpraktikum. the put on a production of “Der gute Mensch von Sezuchan” (best i could remember for the spelling) around the end of April. the class studies a german play, then as their final exam stage a performance of that same play. it was really good! even though there was a good bit i didn’t understand, i got the jist of it. </p>
<p>both of the professors are really nice, my favorite is Mareike Herrmann, the head of the department. my teacher at my HS and her are fairly well acquainted. i was introduced to her and she seemed really excited to meet some of the students to be coming in the fall. most importantly, she made me fairly comfortable even though i don’t know that much german (or didn’t remember, one of the two lol) and phrased her questions so that i was challenged but yet knew what i was doing. beth ann muellner is equally wonderful. the caliber of their students impressed me.</p>
