Class of 2014: Do you drink?

Do you drink/will you drink next fall. Just wondering

No. I have no reason to, since my friends don't either.

yeah, i drink right now every friday and saturday and plan on continuing next year

no, i dont drink and i dont plan on doing it.

No; I am adamantly opposed to alcohol consumption.

I do not currently drink. I know very few people who have completely avoided alcohol in college, but I could see myself doing that.

What mifune said. :)

Millancad - Are you going to Harvard? I don't currently drink, and I don't have any particular attraction to drinking at all right now. I know I'm much more than likely never to smoke or try any drugs, but drinking I can see happening a few times. Not many, and not heavily.

Don't treat drinking as the source of all evils. Just don't get screwed up when/if you drink. Know your limits, common sense.

I do not drink. I have no real problem against responsible alcohol consumption on some occasions. I just don't think many people in high school are very responsible about drinking. That being said, I'm not going to Harvard - I'm going to Princeton (most likely) and I hear the party scene is much better there :)

This is going to sound really bad...but I'm using this as one of my deciding factors in choosing b/w Harvard and princeton. Because in terms of academics, both are good. So next on my check-list is how much partying. So far, harvard seems to be losing.... I mean only one person who currently drinks and another who would consider it? And a few adamantly opposed! :(

I mean, I'm sure you'll find some people at Harvard who drink though. It's just that you'll unlikely to find them on a website about COLLEGE on a Wednesday night.

I feel almost everyone who do drink do it for social reasons. It's like, you're not going to drink if those around you don't, but you likely won't be able to avoid it if everyone else does.

Well, I was talking specifically about 2014 who should be HS students. And true, maybe this is hte wrong place to be looking for Harvard admits who drink. But then again, I sort of wished it weren't you know. I mean, no reason you can't be smart and have drunken fun!

And that's what I'm worried about. Drinking is a social thing and if no one is doing it, well, you can't really either.

@natim1, if you want to party, you will be able to at either school. It's not like with 2,000 undergrads (freshman) you'll be the only one who drinks.

um. yes .

There have been numerous studies conducted that demonstrate the potentially negative cognitive affects associated with alcohol consumption, which are particularly astounding on the developing brain.

I do not wish to add alcohol to my diet primarily due to health reasons, as I am very health conscious. In fact, I wouldn’t mind undertaking partial responsibility for the enactment of a more stringent alcohol policy.

I do and will. :P

mifune: i respect your decision but there are many things harmful to your health. the sun, driving, flying, LIFE.

good elanorci, thats what i like to hear!

It's not like Harvard is anything close to BYU. People party with alcohol at Harvard. Or, at least, they drown their sorrows in alcohol.

Of course. Life presents many hazards, many of which are avoidable and some that simply are not. I personally prefer to limit exposure to the items from the former group.
