<p>There are three different ways to apply early to a school:
<ol>
<li><p>Early Action is non-binding, so you can apply to more than one school early and if you are accepted you do not have to attend that school.</p></li>
<li><p>Some schools also have Early Action Single Choice which is non-binding, but you can only apply one school early. </p></li>
</ol>

<p>I need to narrow this down more… my parents are making me apply to Oregon, Washington and Gonzaga,</p>
<p>@SusieAnne - UNC-Chapel Hill and Emory cannot be considered safeties for anybody. Out of state, UNC had a lower acceptance rate than Cornell. Even if you do get in, there is no guarantee of being able to afford them.</p>
<p>@Regalita - Most schools with a SCEA program allow students to also apply EA to public universites.</p>
