Class of 2014!

srrinath, are you a 2014-er?If not, which uni did you get into?:)

Well put, Quasi :D

(this happened on FB if you guys are wondering)

i’m a 2014-er. still in the process of finalizing my list.

Aren’t we all…sighs

So far the only college I’ve confirmed on my list is Pomona College.

^ Oh I’ve confirmed that too :)

you guys, do you have MSNs or yahoo? PM me if you’re free to talk

I want to apply early to either Yale or Stanford. I just can’t for the life of me decide which. Are any of you guys doing either?

^Of the two, i’d choose Stanford.

^ And I’d choose Yale. Go figure.

I’m doing Brown.

Personal notions of preference aside, what’s your major? Stanford and Yale each have their own niches. Except I can tell you campus-wise, Stanford trumps Yale

^ Seriously? Stanford’s campus is like a friggin’ city with Spanish-style architecture. Yale looks like Hogwarts, but some of the residential colleges are on the streets and stuff. Depends on your taste I guess. I loved the slightly edgy feel Yale’s campus had to it.

This is a totally random question, but what does “preppy” mean? and what is a “quad” ?

srrinath, I’m completely undecided about my major (and, I mean, I’m certainly APPLYING to both schools, I just don’t know where to apply EARLY). tetris, Hogwarts sounds friggin awesome, but California for me is hard to argue with.

Stanford is very sunny, but it’s not need-blind towards internationals… though, if both Yale and Stanford offered me equal FA packages, I would probably go for Stanford. :D

P.S. Hi to all the new posters on the thread :).

“though, if both Yale and Stanford offered me equal FA packages, I would probably go for Stanford.”

Why?

Quasi, also keep in mind that Yale is need-blind whereas Stanford definitely isn’t

Then if it’s true that you have a better chance if you apply early, I should do Stanford, because my neediness works against me there? :D

It would work against you whether you apply early or not. Stanford’s known to be particularly brutal in the early round, with loads of rejections and hardly any deferrals.

It’s pretty brutal RD as well, you know.
