slowly leans backward and does the matrix thing

Reed is 41% and Chickling 28%!

Yay REED! BOO Need-aware 100% FA!

and Cornell 21%

Haha, yes need aware sucks. Cornell is admission-blind. I’d never heard this term before Cornell. They’re need blind in terms of admission for intls but they don’t promise to meet 100% need. Gary, what’re you planning to do, engineering?

Cornell is going to be kind to Indians this year. ;)

Gary, what is your second choice college?

nopes. basic sciences is my line
Also, Cornell has a special TATA scholarship for only Indians. It will support ~25 Indians/year. So I’m safe on that account.
Edit: Second- I’m not too sure. But I guess Reed? Or maybe U Chic, MIT, Amherst.

ooooh, Grinnell’s got a new website!

Btw, Grinnell’s international FAQ says they meet only 70-85% of need with grants. Does it still make it a 100% school?

Iambic pentameter!

All I know is that Grinnell gives a lot of international aid.

I miss GB. Anyone with me?

I miss GB too.

Yeah, grinnell meets 85% of intl aid.

Can I will it to be April?

What are the “self-help” sources that make up the 15-30% of the aid? Jobs? I won’t be able to attend if they meet 80%. :(

I wish you could!

Edit: I suppose so.

I’m gonna get to 3000 today.

@Bilguun : No. Most schools (I’m generalizing here) that we internationals have applied to that promise to meet 100% of need will give you a grant, a small loan and a work-study job. The loan and work-study is counted as meeting your need. Schools that don’t meet 100% of need gap you, meaning EVEN with work-study and a loan, you have 15% of the expenses to come up with on your own. Most American parents choose to take Parent PLUS loans from their government but you will be left on your own devices to come up with the extra cash (like government loans, private loans, or savings). Your EFC as they calculate it is the minimum you have to contribute.

A long time ago, I actually thought I could beat quasi’s post-count. sigh :(

Haha ccp, those were the days! :p

gapyear, i know this sounds random, but are you korean? appa means dad in korean, is why im asking, LOL.
and i can TOTALLY relate to the fin-aid lostness of parents.
and bilguun: yes, i got the “im in my room working on apps so exempt from chores”-ness too =]
when i was in reality probably reading a book or youtubing. LOL.

Does this mean the “up-to” 85% includes jobs?
