<p>My Yale interview was surreal.</p>
<p>She asked me why Yale. I started saying some crap about the English department and the writing program then I realised there was no actual way I could bulls*** myself out of this one. So I told her I wanted to do the whole LGBT studies thing at Yale, which is pretty damn awesome and effectively outed myself. </p>
<p>Let me reiterate.</p>
<p>I outed myself. To a Malaysian Christian. In San Francisco Coffee House. </p>
<p>Thankfully, she was completely non-judgemental about it and overall, the interview was okay. Not awesome, like some other interviews I’ve had, but okay. </p>
<p>Can we just forget Yale’s acceptance rate for a second and dream we’re going there?</p>

<p>Yup. Haha I don’t think you get it. I mean, yes my expectations for tolerance and open-mindedness is definitely higher for US-educated graduates. Its just that, I’ve met overseas grads that are the same as people here. So it nullifies the point.</p>
<p>Although the whole reason I told her was because its Yale. I figured I have nothing to lose.</p>
<p>For my Middlebury interviewer next week with a 35 year old guy, I’m definitely keeping my mouth shut about this.</p>
