Agree with above comments about nice way to congratulate students. @bevward, Congratulations to your DD. It seems to be difficult for schools to figure out how to celebrate academic achievement. Sports achievements are celebrated with more ease.

I just heard from my child and the school that she got in with a score of 224 in Wa state.
Congrats to all.

We heard from the school that a 216 in PA qualifies!!! That brings another state to the -1 territory from last year. It’s my wife’s birthday today and we agreed this is a great gift. Does that mean I’m off the hook for more presents? ;)

SE Boarding Schools <= 218, school counselor

Commended (national cutoff) = 201

Oklahoma reporting. Our school district notified NMSF today. Still nothing via US Mail from NMSC, though. Daughter was not on the bubble, so I can’t contribute to the cut-off list. Congratulations to all the winners!

My son just got home from school (District of Columbia) and NOTHING!! He said a few kids told him they hinted to the principal that they were sitting on the edge of their seats, and he just smiled and told them that he knows it’s frustrating to wait but that he’s sure they should know by next week. Of course WE all know on CC that of course they’ll know next week. Sep 10th to be exact! :frowning: Holy crap, this is absolutely ridiculous. You’d think they were guarding launch codes or something!! Please, somebody, anybody…DC? MA? NJ??? No homeschool parents anywhere?? Ben & Jerry are my new best friends…

Update for Maryland–my son was called out of class with another student and they were informed they were NMSF by the principal. The other student told my son he got a 226–that was not reported as a cutoff, just the score for that student. @nomatterwhat‌ your 225 is looking good–I’m sure you will hear soon! Good luck!

Could someone please update and repost which states have changed how much from last year?

GC opened principal’s mail and called to confirm DD NMSF OH with 213. I had not called her beforehand - although desperate for official confirmation.

why is Illinois at 220??? That is =4 from last year. Is there anyone else able to report Illinois scores?

Commended in VA with a 201 :O

NJ, MA, DC… Will someone, anyone report in?

Thanks @GoAskDad‌! Not sure if 220 is the official cutoff…my college advisor just gave me the letter and explained that it should be kept confidential until the 10th. I also think I might be the only one to qualify from my school this year, since the next highest I know of is around a 213 (a bit too low for CT), so I don’t have any other reference points for the cutoff.

@numbersfun and @bevward Back in my day, my HS used to call all the NMSF, one by one, at an assembly of the whole school (about 1300 boys) to shake the principal’s hand. They ran through the lines of students, getting high fives all the way up. It was just like an athletic pep rally! Not sure if they still do that now. I think they just get the standard photo on the web site. Not as much fun.

Thanks @IrishDad, you made a MD mom very happy. This community is so helpful, thanks to you all.

Why has there been so little news from NY??

I have only seen one qualifier from Illinois report a score on this forum and that was a couple of days ago - that score was 220. I have a son on the bubble so I have been reading this compulsively all week. I am assuming 220 is not the cut off score, but the wait is driving me crazy.

I would like to add that I found this forum by accident last week. Thank heaven because no one from my son’s high school let him know last spring that he was in the running to be a finalist in a national scholarship competition.
