***Class Of 2015 NMSF Qualifying Scores***

I’m in Indiana; I got a 223 so it would appear I’m definitely in the green but I’ve not received anything yet! My friend who got a 224 also hasn’t heard anything; are they supposed to mail anything to us personally? Or is it all through our principal? I would have no idea if he has or hasn’t gotten it; he’s not exactly an active principal.

I am pretty anxious about knowing the final results for CA because at my school we have 3 possible semifinalists, and we’re cutting it close. one girl got a 240 (and we don’t talk about her hahahaha), I got a 223 and a boy got a 222. Considering last year we had 6 semifinalists… Praying that the cutoff is 222. Just for Class of 2015 pride.

And for those worried about SAT scores vs. PSAT scores –– don’t be! It all depends on your individual strengths. I got a 223 on the psat, but a 2360 on the SAT. My friend got a 240 on the psat, but a 225 on the SAT.

Are principal is telling us the same thing, he told us no letter yet. My daughter scored a 215.

Does anyone know what time we can call NM on 9/10 to get the results? Our principal says she was "told’ she cannot share the info until she tells the students on the 10th. I have 2 on the bubble 1pt apart and need to be prepared to possibly celebrate and console at the same time! Thanks.

Two things may partly explain the relatively slow flow of information: While the official date for mailing notifications to schools was 8/26, our school (NC) did not receive notification until Thursday, 9/4. Additionally, per previous comments, our principal believed the 9/10 confidentiality date applied to all communication, while the letter is extremely clear indicating the family (and the principal) is an exception to this confidentiality.

@twinsmom15…NMSC’s office hours are 0830-1630 Central Time, Monday-Friday.

Schools that misunderstand the instructions in the letter are frustrating, but at least the login information for the students will be available on Sep 10th when they finally inform them. If you’re able to confirm the status of your student via the NMSC phone call on Wednesday but your HS still hasn’t located the letter yet, I’d recommend you start the “polite yet not pushy” process of getting the HS in touch with NMSC.

Every year there are schools that don’t know to look for a letter from NMSC and it gets lost in the mountain of other paperwork. If the original letter cannot be located, NMSC will work with your HS to get the ball rolling…but I don’t know if they’ll give the principal login info over the phone or if they will mail out a duplicate letter. In any case, I would go to the HS office Wednesday and “politely” inform them that your student is a confirmed NMSF and the clock is ticking on a deadline with potentially $140K worth of scholarship money on the line…“here is NMSC’s phone number…could you please call them while I’m here so we’re all on the same page on how to move forward?”

Unfortunately, every year there are some students around the nation that miss out on making NMF that are never even aware they made SF. You hope for their sake that they money wouldn’t have been a major factor for their family. There’s more than one reason why the 1000-ish SFs don’t progress to Finalist (don’t submit the package, don’t fulfill the requirements, GPA/transcript issues, etc.) but the HS dropping the ball in a tough pill to swallow. Luckily, NMSC is usually pretty understanding and flexible with students who get late notifications for whatever reason or whose schools are late submitting their parts of the package.

We’re still waiting on official notification here in Michigan as well.

Still haven’t heard officially though D is over the Texas cutoff.

The Wisconsin cutoff in post 2196 is a little high. My counselor told me the cut off went way down to 207 or 208. It is for sure at least 209 since I know people who had a 209 and became semifinalists.

SE Boarding Schools <= 218, school counselor

Commended (national cutoff) = 201

In DC, email last night from GC - my daughter SF with 225, her friend also SF with score of somewhere between 221-223 (daughter can’t remember and doesn’t want to ask).

@mdmommy4‌ Thanks for the update! Does your daughter at least know that her score was higher than her friends, even if just by 1pt? Glad to here someone’s GC is sharing news! But a lot of the DC privates don’t have GCs for seniors, just college counselor or deans for the grade.

Oops sorry - meant “hear”! Too much Ben & Jerry’s! :)

@greatfallsmom‌ My daughter is absolutely positive her score is higher than her friend’s; they discussed it, but since my daughter was not focused on SF status and is not aware of last year’s cutoff, she didn’t file the exact number. I should also add that I use the term “GC” loosely - the woman who emailed is in administration, but I don’t know her exact title (also at a DC private school).

@youngster9, you made my day. The long long wait is finally done. Based on my prediction and master GMT’s prediction and also the general downward pattern so far, I believed this year’s cut-off would not go up. Still, I was really nervous especially b/c I haven’t heard back from the principal and GC to my emails. I’ll save the bubbly drink until I see the letter with my eyes, but at least I can be relieved and stop stress eating and go back to my normal life. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for posting the info. I do appreciate that.

Thanks again @mdmommy4 and congrats! Hopefully my son sweating it out with a 223 doesn’t go to the same school and didn’t get a similar email for a reason :frowning: Have a great weekend!

For those posters with schools claiming to have not received any info from NMSC yet:

I called NMSC on Friday, because my DS’s school was saying “no info yet” as of Thursday - though now I tend to believe they simply could not find the mailing - or had not gotten it as of Thursday - because NMSFs were informed right as classes dismissed Friday afternoon. Upon reflection, I can see how a school our size would have a gigantic volume of mail to process, and I’m not even sure if that type of mailing is sent to the school itself or perhaps to our district HQ, which then forwards such info to each of the high schools.

Anyway, back to my point - and this is important for all of you with schools that claim to not have the NMSC packet: The very nice lady at NMSC told me that, as of Tuesday 9/9, any high school that had not received the package in the mail could call NMSC and an electronic copy of all info would be sent to the school by the next day. So this doesn’t really get you the cut-off information faster BUT your school would be able to obtain your critical log-in info & password by 9/10 so you can start the paperwork without further delays.

Some schools may be bluffing because they think the 9/10 release date applies even to the NMSFs. Other schools, like DS’s, may truly just be unable to find the packet and/or it is not there yet. So if you have a good relationship with your principal/GC, and they’re saying they don’t have the material yet, then the NMSC lady told me the high school can call on 9/9 (not the parent or student…just the HS).

I hope this helps.

I’m still on the hunt for the MO cut-off, so hoping maybe we’ll get some more news today. The student threads may also prove useful, as students may not have time/inclination to post during the school week, but may have more time on the weekend. I posted over in the HS Class of 2015 and asked them to provide any info they glean, but not sure if we’ve had much response.

It’s “Stay-Strong-Saturday” as some folks on the thread continue waiting! All of us are right here with you through the weekend.

@greatfallsmom‌ I am not technologically savvy - how do I PM you? My reply bounced back.

I think you just click on my user name hyperlink and when it takes you to my profile, hit message and type one in. P.S. My husband is the only one in our house who knows how to use the universal remote control for the tv/DVD/DVD!!

@mdmommy4…I think you have to have a minimum number of posts in order to send a PM. Not sure what the number is though.

FWIW, if someone (e.g. #2209) is sure that DC isn’t higher than 223, then neither is any other state.
