He needs to get an access code, and then the next steps are online. The due date is October 8th! But the process is not that lengthy. ( @Musicmom2015 )

@Musicmom2015 The principal should give your son his notification letter no later than today. If not, you should ask for it. You need that letter to proceed with the application for Finalist. I believe that the deadline this year is Oct. 8. You can call the NMSC to confirm this and if you have any other questions. They are very helpful.

Congratulations to your son!

I have the smallish booklet with every state’s cutoff, my counselor gave it to me this morning.

@eburke73: Could you please post what those state cutoffs are? I am especially interested in Utah, but I think everyone on here is interested in all of them. Thanks!

Ok, can you fill in the gaps here?

Yes, please. Post all of them. I will give you $5!

has anyone seen a press release in PA?

My daughter at a boarding school in Delaware texted my wife last night something to the effect of “I think we find out on the 11th, tell Dad to chill out.”

Boarding schools ^
US Territories - 201
Outside US - 224

I am from Ohio, with a 217 PSAT score. This little booklet exists!

FYI, for boarding schools, I think they have started to divide the country into regions (they used to only list “New England Boarding Schools”)…and the cut-off score for your child’s school is the cut-off for the highest state in the region. Don’t ask me what the regions are, though!

@eburke…Thank you for the scores, and Congrats on being a SF!! <:-P

To clarify one of the other storylines on this thread, does the booklet you have show all the SFs by name as well or is that a separate document?

You are a good samaritan @eburke! You saved people a whole lot of trouble.

Sounds like DC, NJ and outside US stayed at 224, the highest score again this year.

Well, this is an example of how the info we get here is not always 100% accurate, even when it comes from school officials. Since wrights was told the cut for Michigan was 211, but it is apparently 210. Maybe they were looking at the scores of kids at the school instead of the score list, and didn’t have anyone who scored a 210. Thanks, eburke, for the list. Does this mean we don’t need to make those phone calls?

@eburke73 Thanks for the scores. I wonder whether these scores are now official…Do you have a source for the list?

Oh, not to resurrect an unpleasant discussion, but I did promise to report back about the NHS scholarship info.

So far I can add:
LATech and UMN-TC do not extend the big NMF money to NHS.
U Central Florida(full-ride) does give it to NHS.

I get the feeling in these communications that they all really want these good Hispanic students even when they don’t give them the NMF money, and seem to have other scholarships they put together to attract them, but nothing automatic.

It sounds like the phone calls may be unnecessary unless someone wants to do it for their own satisfaction for their state.

There were people who called NMSC and confirmed that there are two books being sent to principals, one with state cutoffs and another with the complete list for the nation. @eburke apparently was given a copy of the cutoffs by his school (may be there are no other winners in the school and the GC decided to hand it off).

…and I was looking forward to the drama of the day with the last scores trickling in one by one ; . If I get the chance, I may call to clarify the boarding school question for future generations.

There is one book with the name of EVERY Semifinalist from all over, and their schools and all. Then there is a smaller booklet with the cutoff scores.
