***Class Of 2015 NMSF Qualifying Scores***

Folks - We now get down to CC ritual to help those who still don’t know.

Please commit to calling NMSC at Main Telephone: (847) 866-5100 and asking for a specific state for which we still do not have a cut off and post it here. You can start calling bright and early (8.30 AM Central?)

Anyone volunteering should post ahead of time which state they will request so others don’t also call for the same.

I will call tomorrow and ask for the Utah cutoff.

Calling for NJ

Just want to confirm VA cutoff to be a 219… [-O<

I’ll call for the OR cutoff.

I’ll call for Oklahoma.

Updating NJ, CA, NY. OK, all the bolds disappeared when I copied it. I’m really bad at this.
Please use this template that explains the symbols below for each state

See the stickied FAQ thread in this forum for links to lists of previous scores.

After the press-release date in mid-September, qualifying scores will be available by phone from the NMSC. Here is the number to call–the receptionist will give you one “qualifying score” when asked.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation
1560 Sherman Avenue
Suite 200
Evanston, Illinois 60201-4897
Main Telephone: (847) 866-5100
Main Fax: (847) 866-5113

You can feel free to edit the list yourself. Or simply post your information and rely on others to edit it in.

If you have been notified that you are NMSF, post your score (and your state) if it is lower than the score already posted for your state. It will then become the lowest known qualifying score and be indicated as “<=”.

If you have reliable knowledge of what the qualifying score for your state is (try asking whoever notifies you!), post it here, too. It will become the definitive cut-off score for your state indicated by “=”.

Finally, if you know that you did not qualify and had a reasonably high score, it can also be useful to post your score as an example of the highest non-qualifying score. This can be indicated by “>=”

Please note: Be conscientious as you post scores on this thread–it would be crushing to be led to believe you have made the cutoff by a post but actually haven’t. But everyone should be tolerant of mistakes, too. This is an unofficial source of information derived from a collaborative process and is not, therefore, guaranteed.

SE Boarding Schools <= 218, school counselor

Commended (national cutoff) = 201

I’m sure someone said TN = 212, but my head is swimming looking through tall hese awful long posts, and too many of them mine. If anyone sees it, put up a reference so I can update, OK?

I’m not sure how much the word of a high school student is worth, but for the class of 2016, who might be looking at this thread trying to glean some clues as to whether the states’ cutoffs will rise or fall, please don’t stress out about it. My friend and I have the same PSAT score (which is just on the bubble for our home state), but the difference between me and my friend is that I was compulsively checking CC while she just left it out of her mind until the scores were officially announced. She ended up scoring higher than me on almost every final we took in class, and I think one of the biggest reasons was the added stress of NMSF on me.

So, bottom line, please don’t stress out. Depending on when you’re looking at this thread, it could be 7 months or 7 days until you know whether you made it, but that doesn’t matter. Live in the moment, do your best, and everything will work out.

@celesteroberts‌ - I posted the TN = 212 per our HS principal.

I will call about New Mexico

@onlythebest13‌ , and class of 2016, that’s right, leave the compulsive checking of CC to parents!

SE Boarding Schools <= 218, school counselor

Commended (national cutoff) = 201

I’ll call for WI

If any, could you let me know how I can get the full list of semi-finalists in VA?

http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/blog/morning_roundup/2014/09/84-national-merit-semifinalists-are-chosen-from.html

At the bottom is a link that lets you search for the names of NMSF scholars all over New York State. DS, as we expected, isn’t one, but a huge congratulations to alll who made it and to all the commended students for their excellent accomplishment! Well done.

I just found a press release from Georgia dated yesterday. If you use google, you can do a timed search for either the past week, or the past 24 hours. My kid’s school will do one, but the one they ran for the last NMSF was dated very late October, so I’m not holding my breath, especially since they haven’t yet interviewed my kid.

Best wishes for those still waiting for news and confirmation!!! And hugs to those who don’t get the news they want.

Anybody got VA list? Please share it, if yes!!!

My son just found out from his principal yesterday! Glad I hadn’t checked here earlier or it would have made me crazy, even though he was not on the bubble. So my question is what do the kids need to do now and is the deadline Oct 10? I thought I saw that earlier. He was just told by the principal but not given any sort of letter with details. We are in NJ. Thx!
