It would be fantastic if someone could post wisconsin list of nmsf - thanks!

@ililgoo
What is the source for this information? The TN list is clearly incomplete as it is missing a bunch of Memphis high schools so I was going to go look at the source. Thanks!

Can someone post an entire list for NJ (over 500 students!) My son hasn’t even been notified by the school yet (confirmed with NMSC that he is on the list though). Thanks

Someone on another thread is collecting links to the NMC press releases put out by each state. You can look and post links when you find them to this site: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/national-merit-scholarships/1684677-2015-national-merit-semifinalist-list-links.html#latest

I spoke with lovely person at NMC and confirmed D2 is on the list (her score was above the cutoff but nothing from her BS and this way I can relax.)

She clarified info about how boarding schools work.

There are 4 regions:

New England/Mid Atlantic
East/West/North Central
South Atlantic and Central
Mountain Pacific and Southwest

In each of these regions, the cutoff is set at the highest cutoff for the states in that region.

Schools with at least 40% out of state students are included.

I’ll cross post this on the boarding school parents forum for future reference.

I just contacted San Jose Mercury News, the paper said it will post a link on online edition for California or Bay Area list tomorrow.

Found one for a neighboring county, but not mine. Boohoo!

My dd is on the Fairfax VA list, as I expected, with a 224, but they misspelled her name, not sure if that happened at NMSC or FCPS, but I have not seen it misspelled that way before.

I would just like to remind all the students on this thread not to allow yourself to be defined by a number whether it is PSAT, SAT, ACT, or GRE score. In the end it is not the score you got on a Saturday morning test but what you do with the gifts you have been given. I have known a National Merit Scholar who did not bother to go to college (to spite her parents). In contrast, I have known a person who started their career in a technical school and ended up (after a Long and grueling journey and against all the odds) with a PhD! As a faculty member in a school of nursing at a large land grant university I know that while tests can be good predictors of success they are only statistical associations. I sat on the nursing committee for over a decade. I saw superstar high school students who took all AP classes in HS not be eligible for admission To nursing after their first 2 years of college because the had a GPA much lower than 3.0. Now I sit on the admission committee for our PhD program and I have admitted someone with an abysmal GRE score who proceed to be a stellar PhD student. In the end, it is not your numbers that matter. It is what you do with your gifts–music, athletics, theater, academics–whatever they are. The fact that you bothered to take the PSAT means that you are talented and motivated. Keep your eye on the ball because for those who are given much (ie. talents), much is expected! Go and be amazing!!! Good luck with the rest of your senior year!

I put it on the other thread with the lists too but don’t know if everyone is hanging out there

@celesteroberts, your link of the CA list is FANTASTIC! Any comparable link of the CT list? Anyone able to scan/make a pdf of the CT list?

Please give a lists for IL, NJ, FL and WI.

It’s not my list. I just linked to it when I found it. I am trying to persuade someone at one of the news outlets in WI to link to the WI list as it is my home state. Florida will turn up in the next day or 2. One of their newspapers always links it.

Thank you to this group for tons of useful info in this thread. I have been lurking for a long time, but registered today. DD’s 224 qualified her (VA), but school didn’t say anything until today. Bourbon in the immediate future!

Hmmm. Thank you to the original poster, but the Virginia list posting does not seem to be complete.

@celesteroberts THANK YOU SO MUCH for that link to the CA semifinalists!
