***Class Of 2015 NMSF Qualifying Scores***

You are welcome. Wish there was a way to thank the person who put it up originally. A real public service.

This is what we had for LAST YEAR’S NMSF cutoff list:

5(?) Boarding school regions

Midwest
IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MO, OH, TX, WI region=219

West
AZ, CA, CO, ID, NM, OR, UT, WA, WY region =223

Southeast
AR, FL, GA, MS, NC, SC, TN, WV region =217

New England (?)
CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, VT region =224

Mid-Atlantic (?)
DE, DC, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA region =224

Leaving three without a definite home:
IL, HI, KY (HI has one boarding school, KY two, IL two)

I am inclined to think, in spite of the news releases, that KY belongs to the Southeast or Midwest region, HI to the West, and IL to the Midwest.

Of course there is no guarantee that in the future these regions won’t be re-grouped without notice by the NMSC.

So by putting this together for the 2015 CUTOFFS, my best guess is:

New England/Mid-Atlantic
CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, VT, DE, DC, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA region = 224

Southeast
AR, FL, GA, MS, NC, SC, TN, WV, KY region = 215

Midwest
IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MO, OH, TX, WI, IL region = 218

West
AZ, CA, CO, ID, NM, OR, UT, WA, WY, HI region = 222

Here is a San Jose Mercury news version for CA

Could you please list the names for Sidwell Friends in DC?

The Virginia list posted at Virginia

seems to be a partial, since only cities from Falls Church through Williamsburg are included. The A through E cities are all missing. Anyone have the rest of the list?

Thanks!

A while back someone posted a link to an outside webpage that listed many scholarships available to NMF. I’ve lost the link – does anyone have the address and if so, can you please repost it?

Is this the one?

Yep! Thanks so much! :)

@Celesteroberts thank you! It’s great, I don’t have to wait until tomorrow.

thanks for the California list, Celesteroberts! 6 kids out of 90 in my son’s school made it. I still never got any notification; just my son saying that he got called in for photographs. I scoured my spam folder again and the only NM is Neiman marcus last call junk mail.

Anyone has PA list please

I called NMSC to verify DS this morning since we had heard nothing from the school. The very nice, helpful woman not only verified his semifinalist status but then without any prompting from me, checked to see that someone at the school (staff) had logged in but found that no student had logged in. Then she told me how they tell schools that they are allowed to tell the student before the public announcement but a lot of schools just don’t get it. (um yeah)

Can you tell us where we can see this list online??

Does anyone have the full list for Maryland? The earlier post was Montgomery County only. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if any of you guys knew what the 3 numbers next to the NMSQT semifinalists’ names meant. Does it have anything to do with the score that students got?

Document: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/172418022/2015%20National%20Merit%20Semifinalists%20in%20California

@mistswirl nothing to do with score. It is a code for intended major.

STEMFamily: why do the students “log in” and where are they logging in to? School notifies the students directly, no? Must admit I find the whole National Merit process a maze - there just is not clear info on how this whole process works. So now that my child determined they have qualified (by means of a press release from her school no less), where do they get the application for finalist status and when is that due? Would be much clearer if communication was directly with student.

@STEMFamily‌ Do you have a list for the codes (i.e. what a 161 means for example)?

@HarvestMoon1 School notifies student and gives them their login information to an NMSC site. The letter they get from the school should explain things (or it is explained when they login, I don’t remember for sure and my kid hasn’t gotten his yet either) The student has to login to start the application process and will enter a parent email and eventually upload their essay. After they log in the first time, the parent is sent a permission form to acknowledge. I believe someone said the due date is October 8th.

If they make finalist, they will also use the site to declare (or change) their first choice college.
