***Class Of 2015 NMSF Qualifying Scores***

I am another Kentucky parent hoping for my daughter to make the cutoff for NMSF. Our school is a small private one, and so I am hoping the GC will tell us as soon as she knows something. When I hear something, I will post it here!

We are in Ohio with a 219 PSAT. Historically that puts him a couple of points comfortably above, but is it very common for it to fluctuate more than l2 or 3 points?

FYI, historical data and this year’s predictions:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/national-merit-scholarships/1680586-sept-madness-prediction-contest-for-nat-l-merit-semifinalist-cutoff.html#latest

I think the instant gratification we get everyday makes waiting more difficult…

@DiffMom I think a 1 year wait is ridiculous, but I do agree with you.

It has begun.

^^that could be us soon!^^^

I need to write a thank you note to my middle child (class of 2012) for scoring 14 points above the all-time high Texas high cutoff. HIs Bubble Brothers (class of 2010 and class of 2015) are responsible for the gray roots. Having said that, we are SO close now! Someone could actually get a letter tomorrow! And if our principal gets a letter soon, he will absolutely NOT tell us! Nope. Never did tell the kids who were named in the top 50,000 letter in the spring, even though his secretary TOLD me he was going to call them all in the next week to congratulate them! Thank goodness for CC. Guess I need to write you all a thank you note as well.

Does anyone know for certain what the homeschool “principals” get? Do they only get a notification that their student is a SF, or does the letter say what the state cutoff actually is? Calling all Texas homeschoolers with a student with a 219!!!

This announcement is for last year’s NMSFs who received a scholarship from the colleges.

@texaspg Yes, but the news was just announced today. That’s why I was saying “that could be us soon” as in this time, next year, we could be receiving news of our own scholarships.

@barfly I think to get the state cutoffs, you need to call them or piece it together through posts on CC

That was very bad announcement in terms of timing. Most people have already started college and the last of the meaningful announcements usually get made in May, not at the end of August.

@texaspg My bad then! I’ve been on edge the entire week, so I’m jumping on any news I get.

Home school principals only get the notification that their student(s) made it. Last year the postings would start with news like “My kid’s in, with 216!”, and someone would update the list for all 50 states with the info that their state had a maximum cut of 216. Maybe the next day someone from that same state would say “I’m in too, with only 214”, and the list would get updated.

Which brings us to that Big Question…who is going to be the master list holder for us?

This jumps in at the middle, but you can get the idea of how this site has distributed information in the past.

This one might be better, it seems to be about the first updated posting:

I called NMSF HQ and they said to wait 5 business days for the letter, depending on where you live…

Just wondering…how many of us here waiting for THE LETTER are homeschoolers? We are in PA (patiently?) waiting. Any others in PA? Or any other state?

I’m surprised that we haven’t even heard anything from Illinois, considering that’s where NMSF is based.

homeschool parent in IL here

Indiana homeschooler here–nothing today.

@onlyTheBest‌ I had no idea that they’re in Evanston! I could just walk on over…
