Perhaps this has already been addressed somewhere, but why are the NMSF results not available online, the way (for instance) AP awards are?

It’s not sent via first class mail…something more bulk. Last year the letters went out on a Tuesday as well, and the first results shared here at least weren’t until Saturday.

My dad said that I had mail and I got ridiculously excited for a moment, but it turned out to be senior registration info

From PA. Nothing yet.

Usually there are one or two people managing the list and rest should provide input about what they are hearing (lot of it is hearsay although we have had school principals or counselors leak some info occasionally).

Varanasi - homeschooled in PA?

Oooh, more PA! Two best friends, . I keep checking today, even though I know it’s a few days too early yet. I’m guessing that by this hour, it’s a no go. Maaaaaybe tomorrow!!!

I’m new here, but would be glad to compile scores, etc. if no one else wants to. We are in Ohio and so far, nothing. I am on pins and needles. I’m HOPING we don’t have to go over Labor Day weekend, but I have a sneaking suspicion that we will.

SparkleMom, are you homeschooling?

Better luck tomorrow peeps! Hopefully we will hear something!!!

Just double checking last year’s thread, because I’m a little OCD like that, and realize that the first data came in on FRIDAY! I think I missed the post saying “yesterday…” This was from Iowa, for what that’s worth. Data trickled in slowly at first, but someone did get info on Friday (with an alleged Tuesday mailing date).

Ohio and Michigan clocked in that Saturday, but sadly most of the data that followed was after the dreaded holiday weekend. That Tuesday was a big data day, though certainly not all.

I did most of the updates last year, but I’m on vacation on Cape Cod so I only have an iPad. Hopefully someone else can run with it this year. BTW, I just moved my daughter into International Village at Northeastern University, where she is attending on a National Merit Scholarship :)

Good luck to the class of 2015 in the coming days, I will be a curious onlooker!

@PAMom21 @pasoccermom @mtrosemom @SparkleMom97
So many moms on this thread my own parents don’t even know that NMSF decisions are coming out

While we are all patiently waiting, I thought I would point out how many of us are anxiously looking for the results. I checked this thread yesterday afternoon at about 4:00 to see if there was any news, and happened to notice how many views the thread had. Since then, it has been looked at over 6000 times!

Yes @pmagoo, but at least 1000 of those were me, :"> . @onlythebest13, think how exciting it will be when you have good news to share! My fingers are crossed for you. My son isn’t aware of this board, or the specific release dates, but he is excited.

I can account for the other 5000 views.

When our HS gets the letter, they will tell no one. But my son can sweet talk his way into, out of, or through just about anything. So I feel certain he could find out if he tried. But he is blissfully unaware that the letters may arrive any day, and I don’t want to tell him!

I can help too so here we go. (Thanks to @ROCKFISHDG)

See the stickied FAQ thread in this forum for links to lists of previous scores.

After the press-release date in mid-September, qualifying scores will be available by phone from the NMSC. Here is the number to call–the receptionist will give you one “qualifying score” when asked.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation
1560 Sherman Avenue
Suite 200
Evanston, Illinois 60201-4897
Main Telephone: (847) 866-5100
Main Fax: (847) 866-5113

You can feel free to edit the list yourself. Or simply post your information and rely on others to edit it in.

If you have been notified that you are NMSF, post your score (and your state) if it is lower than the score already posted for your state. It will then become the lowest know qualifying score and be indicated as “<=”.

If you have reliable knowledge of what the qualifying score for your state is (try asking whoever notifies you!), post it here, too. It will become the definitive cut-off score for your state indicated by “=”.

Finally, if you know that you did not qualify and had a reasonably high score, it can also be useful to post your score as an example of the highest non-qualifying score. This can be indicated by “>=”

Please note: Be conscientious as you post scores on this thread–it would be crushing to be led to believe you have made the cutoff by a post but actually haven’t. But everyone should be tolerant of mistakes, too. This is an unofficial source of information derived from a collaborative process and is not, therefore, guaranteed.

10(?) Boarding school regions
No scores reported yet.
These usually are set to be equal to the highest cut-off score among the individual states in the region.

Internationals=?
This usually is set to be equal to the highest cut-off score among all the individual states.

Commended (national cutoff) = 201
Any person with a score equal to or higher than this cutoff who is not a NMSF receives commended status. This group represents the highest 50,000 scorers.

1,579,720 juniors took the PSAT and CA has 195,730 of those students, which is about 12.3% of students. Therefore, approximately 1,982 students (rounding down) will be chosen for national merit semifinalist in CA. This doesn’t look very good for me considering that 2,180 students scored 750-800 in critical reading; 5,585 students scored 750-800 in math; and 2,279 students scored 750-800 in writing….

I got 223 btw, with 750 in math, 720 in writing, and 760 in critical reading

@onlythebest13 But those “top students” in each category may not necessarily be all the same people. Maybe the high math scorers didn’t do too well on the CR and W sections and vice versa. I think you got a pretty good shot if that means anything!
