***Class Of 2015 NMSF Qualifying Scores***

Sorry, you caught me still in edit mode. I didn’t want to lose the clipboard, so I did that in pieces. Yes, commended is just 201, and I think it’s fixed now. Should we keep all that wordy stuff? Or just the states? I was torn. That was cut and pasted right from what they used last year.

HALF day at work, yippee! Tomorrow will be brutal, as I suspect we won’t get much today (last year there was very little the first data day). I set my phone to beep with each new post, but that was insane, and I’ll have to turn that off for tomorrow and maybe peek when I can.

@hs2015mom, I agree, don’t give up. It’s important to point out that last year the first states to receive data were Iowa, Ohio, and Michigan. IL didn’t even come through on day 2! Deep breaths. This is an anxious time for sure, but you don’t know until you know.

And congratulations to @isaelijohjac!!! Someone had to be first. Thanks for considering us…um…family,  .

My daughter (Ohio) scored a 205 so it looks like she will receive commended status. Should we be expecting a letter? Or just the semi-finalist/finalist?

@Scott45044 What is the cut off for Ohio? Mine is a junior but I’ve been following this for next year.

Homeschooler here in Ohio. The letter came today! His score is 227.

Commended (national cutoff) = 201

Again, anyone can update this, though I plan to park myself here at least until @luvmygirls mail comes in for the day, . My <= means “less than or equal to”. If someone stops by later with a letter and a 214 in Ohio, many more Ohio folks will breathe a sigh of relief! When we know a cut is certain, we’ll change that state to = .

And a note to Luv (here with me in PA), don’t panic if it’s not there. Based on last year’s rollout, I’m guessing we’ll be waiting until tomorrow.

@pamom21 Should we expect a letter for commended status?

Not this week for commendation letters, though I forget the date that was attached to those. I believe they’ll be sent sometime later this month. Anything 201 or higher though should be included there.

Updating to say that according to a call made by @isaelijohjac last week, those will be sent sometime after the cuts are released on September 10th. And they use cheap mailings, so add at least another week to that.

Can someone explain how this works? I gather principals now know who the semi-finalists are in their school. Do they send the student a letter? Verbally inform them? Though I’d like to find out the cut off asap, it seems like a shame to spoil the surprise for my kid (if he should be so lucky). In the natural course of things, when would he find out and how?

Lil Ms. Singer had a 227 in Ohio, So now I have a good reason to annoy the school counselor Congrats to my neighbor @snowbeltmom. we survived Ohio winters AND NMSC … sofar

Thx for the info.

Come on TN homeschoolers!!

I’m guessing based on how the letters arrived last year, that only a few states/schools are receiving info today. Most of our updates in the very near future will likely be from home schooling families, who generously share their info. IFFFF a school gets a letter today, it might not be opened until after the kids leave, and maybe not shared for a few more days even. In an ideal world, the principal or GC would share that news ASAP, but even on a good day, I would think by week’s end is fair. It should most likely involve a visit to guidance to get the information needed to start on the actual application.

My son already knows he stands a good chance, so I’ll tell him as soon as I hear here, unless the school is telling him right now as we speak (unlikely!)

P.S…this is my first NMS rodeo, so I’m only going by what others have said.

Worth noting or not–the envelope is stamped first class mail… Slow. Slow. Slow.

Slow, slow, slow? Or lies, lies, lies? LOL! First class mail never takes that long, does it? Maybe “we sent them on the 26th” means “we stacked them in an out bin, with the intent that they eventually make it into the USPS system.”

@ Charmomile7, It totally depends. Last year, some posts indicated their principals or admin staffs sent the news to the students. Not all the schools are considerate/flexible enough to share the news with the anxious students or families before the press release (9/10, I guess). My kid’s school would pretend that they don’t have any info until the press release and it is hard for me to wait until then. That’s the reason I’m obsessed to CC like this. I hope the new principal at my child’s school could be different from the previous one and share the news asap, though.

Is it possible that a single state’s cutoff has risen from last year? Or is that very unlikely? Idk if I’m considered on the bubble but my score is 1 point above my state’s cutoff from last year. Thanks

My son is likely commended, but if we moved, he would be a semi-finalist. Darn excellent school system!
