Post #1500, many many pages back, says someone in WA heard they got in with 229. Not a surprise, but it means the mail is there.

@celesteroberts‌ Thanks for bringing that up!

Commended (national cutoff) = 201

Congratulations to all whose DCs made it! By the way, I wonder whether all the students who made NMSF received the Carlton mailing today (9/2). I’m still anxiously waiting for any news and we don’t have any mails from Carlton today, only MIT, BU, etc. I’m getting little nervous…

Have the colleges been given a list of names by NMSC, or are they making educated guesses based on PSAT scores?

@helimom74 when is the latest I can expect a letter?

@binatang I’m just a high school student like you, but from what I’ve read on this thread, some high schools delay giving the letter to students. You will definitely know whether or not you made NMSF by September 10th (or 9th maybe?) when you can call NMSF HQ and ask for one qualifying score

^If your school has not informed you before then, you can call NMSC on Sep 10th (the public release date for NMSF information) and they will tell you whether or not you are a Semifinalist. Unfortunately, HS failing to notify their SFs in a timely fashion is something we see every year on these threads. It’s frustrating, but don’t panic seeing other reports of scores trickling in from your state. Some schools intentionally “sit” on the letters, others get them and don’t realize how important it might be to some students, and others simply lose them in the shuffle because they’re not aware of the program at all. In any of these cases, you can confirm your own status on Sep 10th and then work with NMSC and your HS to get everything submitted on time.

Fingers crossed for more results tomorrow, especially on the west coast!

@pom2015‌ I didn’t receive a mailing from Carleton, either, which made me glad that my school told me I made it as I would have been nervous, too. I also haven’t received multiple other NMSF-related mailings that have been reported, so I think it’s pretty hit-and-miss. I wouldn’t put too much stock in it.

FYI: predictions for all 52 regions:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/national-merit-scholarships/1680586-sept-madness-prediction-contest-for-nat-l-merit-semifinalist-cutoff.html#latest</a>
So far (it’s still early), CA & TX predictions are spot on.

I’ll be periodically checking these boards today. I hope that your wait is over soon. I am rooting for all of you!

Me too! I still can’t believe PA was one of the first states to clock in. I do have to work a full school day, but I’m excited for news nonetheless. Best wishes one and all!

My son has never received a mailing from Carleton, but the National Merit letter came yesterday.

My son in TX is @ 216. Hoping that’s the cutoff!!

No new news for the list, but we just got official notification from the principal, so I can stop worrying about lost paperwork and the like. Kudos to our school for jumping right on it, and may that be the new norm.

My daughter has 218 in Texas and we did not get the Carleton mailing.

I would not put too much stock in the Carleton mailing. For what it’s worth, my son, who is a NMSF did not get that mailing. I just googled and see they are liberal arts. My son’s College Board surveys are all about computer science. Maybe that had something to do with it? Also, kids check boxes for areas of the country they are interested in/etc, so who knows what exactly dictates the mailing? I doubt they have insider info. If anything, they bought a list based on a few questions and some random cut that they thought was reasonably high.

My son got the Carleton mailing, he has a 225, but no notification from the school yet.

233 in CA and no word yet here.
