Class of 2015

My son just recieved an oversize envelope from USC today. He isn’t here so I didn’t open it, but I suspect it is an admission package because there is an evil looking chicken on the back of it with a cartoon bubbles that says “Yes!”.

^That’s definitely it. haha.

One of my friends, her mother said that she received the exact same envelope when she went to USC… so it must be a long-standing tradition.

Congrats to your son! =)

Hey AUGirl…My D did not receive an oversize envelope in the mail yesterday. Is this an indication that she will be rejected? Most of the students at her school received their letter of acceptance. Please tell me that there is still hope of getting a “Yes” envelope!

I’m not AU, but I don’t think that not recieving one yet is anything to worry about. I have been hearing about both rejection letters and acceptance letters being recieved for several weeks. I also know of a couple of applicants who have better test scores or grades than my son who have not yet heard anything. The best I can tell is that the letters are being sent out on a random basis.

Also, neither of us (my son or AU) live that far away from USC, we both typically get our mail from Columbia the day after it is sent, so if you are from another state it may take an extra day or two.

Good luck!

Yeah. It takes no time for mail to get here.

But USC has said that decision week doesn’t even start until tomorrow, so I think you’re good. I believe they’ll be sending out letters through Friday.

I know that when it came to Early Acceptance in December, I received my letter before Decision Week started, but some people who were accepted didn’t receive theirs until later. I had friends in my class who live in the same area as me (and therefore should get their mail at about the same time) and they didn’t receive their letters until a week after me.

So I wouldn’t be worried at all.

Any thoughts on my question above regarding VIP? Thank you!

Everyone, Thanks so much for the information!

I will encourage her to keep the faith because she really want to be a Gamecock. Everyday she sends me a text from school asking…do I have mail? Hopefully, next week I can happily say “Yes”.

I will update with any news!

@usc2015

I have no idea honestly.

You may not be able to put a deposit down into VIP until they send out your acceptance letter. Or it might mean that you were waitlisted/denied. I have no clue.

I do know that it is possible to access VIP and be waitlisted. I’m not sure if you can access it if you’re denied though.

I wish I could help. =/ I’m sorry.

Thanks so much for the info! I was confused as to what it may mean. I can only assume if I can not put my deposit down that it is not a good sign. Best of luck to you in your Freshman Year! I am so happy for you! I will keep you posted. You have been an enlightening attribute to this forum.

;)

Yes, I agree with usc2015, AUGirl has been an enlightening attribute to this forum!

congrats again to everyone accepted! has anyone done all their housing paperwork yet?! Just wondering how everyone was finding roommates? (friends from home, I think usc uses Uchoose, facebook, ect.)

I filled out my USC housing stuff.

If someone messages me on facebook about a roommate, then I’ll respond. (Had one so far… but she stopped messaging me back, so me thinks she found a roommate.) But otherwise, I’m just going into the pot. I don’t really actually care.

I filled out a survey on facebook and on UChoose.

AUGirl - Good luck finding your new roomie!

lizmarief, my daughter found her roommate through a friend, a rising senior at USC with another rising senior friend who has a younger sister graduating high school and headed to USC in the fall. Amazing how these things can develop. :-)

Just returned from Scholars Day yesterday. It was an interesting experience, although I’m not sure it was worth the gas money to go down there for it, seeing as how I’d already seen the campus.

Anyhow, everyone was very friendly and courteous and it was nice to see the campus again, although it was rainy and a bit cold. My only complain was that they said we could see the student dorms until 6:30 and said that the last shuttle bus would return at 6:30, so my father and I sat through about three of the main info sessions and then went and toured housing at Columbia and Maxcy. We caught a bus back to the main entrance and we were told that buses were only returning people at that point, even though it was only 5:00. They hadn’t mentioned that anywhere, so that was a tad frustrating. We just ended up not touring Bates or Bates West and going home instead.

But otherwise… I keep getting more and more excited to go to USC. =D

Officially going to USC for next year! I’m pretty excited and can’t wait to get started.

Anyone know their housing yet?

It’s a little frustrating that some people know and some don’t. It appears that everyone who’s in Bates West, Patterson, Cola, and Honors already know… so I guess the rest of us will have to wait and see.

yeah, I got my housing for Honors a few days ago.

Just looked it up and my son has been assigned a room number and apparently a roommate in Thornwell.

The webpage had a form to fill out to contact the roommate, I assume that it would be polite of him to go ahead and make contact.

Also, his room number has “b” beside it, and there is also an “a” and a “c”, so I would assume that there may be 3 roommates sharing the appartment? The “a” apparently has not yet been filled as only the “b” and “c” have the option to send an message to.

Just curious, but did your son receive an email?

I’ve heard some people say that they received theirs on VIP and never got an email, though USC is saying you’re supposed to receive an email along with it.
