Class of 2016 admissions?

My name is DeVonte, and I will be a senior in high school in the fall. I go to school in Chicago, Illinois. I got a 24 on the ACT, and my unweighted GPA is around 3.3. I hear because I am not from California it is going to be extremely hard to get into UC Berkeley. I was wondering if there are any tips there are for me to be accepted. I play 5 sports, I am a Chicago Scholar, I am a World Sport Chicago Scholar, and I am in the National Honor’s Society. Also, I have around 60 community service learning hours, and I plan on getting to at least 100. If there is any information that will help my chances into being accepted, can anybody please let me know. Thanks

Contact the coaches. Sports scholarship?

sorry but you don’t have a chance

It’s true that being from out of state makes it harder to get into Berkeley. Someone please correct me if my stats are wrong, but Berkeley accepts about 25% of kids who apply, and out of those 25% that are accepted, 30% are from out of state.

Being a senior, I don’t know if it’s too late to start getting into AP classes and to get more service hours, improve your ACT, start taking SAT I’s and SAT II’s, etc. You didn’t indicate if you’ve taken AP’s, but people who get into Berkeley take a ton of them, and their ACT scores are, usually, around 30+. A lot of Berkeley kids get service hours in the hundreds and are either officers in school clubs or are active members. Those are my tips to getting into Berkeley, it’s a competitive but very awesome school  Good luck

For the 2011 to 2012 academic year, 21% of applicants were accepted. If one includes spring admits/transfers, then the admissions rate nears 25%.
