Hello Forum,

I am a current student at William Penn Charter School.
I recently applied to Haverford College for ED.
Although my SAT grades are strong: 2170(R:640, M:780, W: 750 Essay:12), my GPA is 3.3, which is OK for my school since my school is considered pretty tough.
My 1st tri grades are decent, I take two APs(this is the max class our school allows) and i did well in both of them.(Bs and As)
Here’s the problem: I got C on my English first tri. and I know for sure that my first tri grades are going to all my ED and EA colleges.
Is this C gonna affect my chances of getting in? This is the only C in my entire high school transcript and I am so scared. I have sort of upward trend in my transcript and this was a killer.
Thanks for reading this and hope you guys could help me with this.

Hi!
I am also applying ED to Haverford and am in a similar situation. I think our chances of getting in might have decreased some. There was a box in the common app where you could write about anything that affected your grades; I wrote two sentences and hope it works. Whatever happens, happens for a reason. Good luck to both of us :)

My daughter applied ED to Haverford as well, but I don’t think her first quarter grades were sent with her transcript as they were prepared before the grades were in. Is this something we should send in before Dec. 15?

Just to be certain, I suggest you contact admissions on Monday morning to make sure your child’s application in complete. In case it’s not complete, call your child’s high school college counselor immediately.

Thanks. I think we’re OK, as Haverford sent her an email saying her application was complete, but we’ll double-check.
