My EA app changed from submitted to downloaded. iohgwhejkdbn IT IS HAPPENING.

“financial aid seems terrible” is not a very helpful statement. That statement is much less useful then mine, which though andecdotal, is based on concrete evidence. My parents make about $80,000. I’m paying about $10,000, and my sister is also in college at Pomona, paying probably $3-4000 less than I am. Clearly these numbers are not super specific, but it is evidence, and people can use the FA calculators. No, UC does not have the aid of HYPS, but it does not have terrible aid and everyone can determine if the aid is horrible or not by their own standards using the calculator, they don’t need you telling them you think UC’s aid SEEMS terrible. I think it’s pretty good if you look at the average financial given an compared to many other schools. I got a little less from Vassar and Wesleyan and much less from UC Davis, University of Rocheser, Willamette, CSM and some others.

Good luck to everyone who’s going to apply~

UChicago is my top choice (dream school omg akijladkjgsrokh). I just really need to get out of South Florida…lol
I submitted the supplement yesterday, I’m just trying to wait patiently for my email to make my UChicago Account…I really want to schedule the interview already = 3 =

PAGRok may be correct that UC does not have the financial aid of HYPS, but it beats them all for merit scholarships. HYPS give no merit scholarships to speak of, while UC offers both University Scholarships and National Merit Scholarships. And there is no extra paperwork to fill out to be considered for a University Scholarship. Your child just needs to check a box that says they want to be considered for a merit scholarship.

Applying to UChicago via QuestBridge’s early process. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Yoga, I cannot speak for the others, but compared to Stanford at least, Chicago’s financial aid is significantly better.

Argh! I’m so upset… I submitted my application (supplement and common app) with three letters of admission in mid-September and still haven’t gotten my UChicago account yet! I e-mailed the admissions people but no reply… I hope it comes soon because I’m dying on the inside knowing that somebody might take my alumni interview spot and I might not be able to apply for financial aid… or check my decision… or anything… :’(

Hey! Quick question:

If I submit my Common App, rec letters, and supplements for UChic on October 31st, that’s before the Nov 1 deadline right, so it’s fine? Even though it may take a while to create my UChic account, I’ve submitted all the required documents (and sent SAT scores) by the Nov 1 deadline…

:/

@collegecrazy:) : I would imagine that is what is meant by a “November 1 deadline,” but if you’re worried, contact UChicago.

Ready to submit all of my stuff for EA! Application fee is the only thing I’m really waiting on before submitting.

So where is waldo, really!!!

Ready to send in application, nervous as hell, etc.

Fun stuff.

Just finished both my essays, and now just waiting to get them rechecked again before submitting…do our UChicago accounts show if our ACT/SAT scores have been processed? I sent mine in a while ago but I don’t know if they’ve been received.

Only three more days!

How’s everyone coming along on their apps? I’m still working on my essays… time for some all nighters =p. Surely others are in the same boat I am???

Gotta love essay writing!

November 1st on 11:59 PM is the deadline, right (struggling with writing the essay XP)

^^Yep. It’s Nov. 1st, 11:59PM.

Did no one else get the email saying the deadline is flexible? I’ve posted this in like 10 threads now but you guys are making me second guess myself even as I’m sitting here rereading the message…

It’s flexible, but only for those affected by the storm

What are they going to do? Not accept it if you turn it in a day or two late?
