Class of 2018 (yikes!) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

What’s nice about Today Tix is many shows you can actually choose your seats…with TKTS I don’t think that is an option. But I love TKTS too!

Has anyone heard from The New School yet?

^Several people have posted New School acceptances on the “accepted by school” thread in Theater/Drama forum. You may want to PM one of them? Good luck, hon!

bwaybabie, miami is notorious for rolled out admission decisions. Not sure if MT is the same, but for the school itself, the EA people found out their decisions in waves over the course of weeks. Same with decisions about Singer/Stamps scholarships… people found out at different times over the course of a week even though the number of people who they interviewed wasn’t all that great.

Thank you @3tallblonds. Same for Syracuse?

Gotta vent…just got a great big package in the mail for suny purchase with a congratulations and an invitation to the accepted student meeting…wait for it … AND a rejection letter to the bm program (she hasn’t received communication on acceptance into the college so I assume they are congratulating her for being rejected to the bm program ). I have steadfastly not communicated at all with any colleges because I view this to be my ds responsibility. That being said this is absolutely cruel and unusual. Fortunately for them I live on the west coast and it’s in ny. So they have until Monday when I will call and voice my disgust. Hopefully by Monday My cooler calmer head will prevail. Someone please talk me down off the ledge.

Bizarre, sguti40. The left hand truly does not know what the right is doing! So she was accepted to the school as a whole and is expected to choose another major?

Austinmt, don’t know. She has never received an acceptance to the actual college. But I guess I will find out on Monday.

Sguti40 - My first thought was go for it! BUT - I would call and be quietly perplexed, on the off chance that the accepted student part was correct, and they accidentally sent the wrong form letter? My guess for the most likely scenario is accepted to school, not to program, in which case, sending both in the same envelope is misleading at best, cruel at worst.

@sguti40, my S got an invitation to a scholarship dinner for specific scholarship recipients for Emerson today. He is wait listed there. At first I thought, perhaps he was no longer wait listed AND they decided to award him a scholarship too… then I realized how silly that would be.

Sure enough a few hours later a follow up email apologizing for sending the award night invitation to the wait list students.

I’m thinking that staff person was having a sucky Friday. I hope they got to go for drinks.

Just what we all need…a new low! Can this process get any worse?

Mt4life you are right on both accounts. Either way I could deal with not being accepted to the program. She has multiple acceptances, this was her third choice and exclusively opera/classic driven…so she was ok with the decision. Thank you guys for allowing me to get it out. Hopefully the admissions director will either write or call her to apologize.

I’m so glad this process is almost over. D received an acceptance to her top school yesterday so she will be making another visit there (to beg and plead for more $) and to one other school (a much more affordable institution) before making a final decision. While neither are BFA programs, the audition season really helped D solidify what she was looking for in a college. Good luck @Octaviar and @Sguti40. I feel your pain!

@Sguti40 that is absolutely horrible. If it is an academic acceptance it should come out completely separate from a redirection letter as we like to call them. Keep us posted on Monday.

Son received the same type of big envelope with a “re-direction letter” from two schools. He had already assumed it was a no because the word was out that calls/e-mails had been made. Timing is everything. I remember Hartt stressing that their decision would come in a small envelope to avoid confusion.

We experienced the same thing w/a local college, a big envelope w/congratulations stamped on the outside & inside under the acceptance letter was a rejection for the MT program! It was devastating for our D. I never thought to call & complain, wish I had, I was so focused on how to put my girl back together!

Hi everyone. We are still waiting on Syracuse and UMiami but sounds like alot of notifications went out yesterday. So Im thinking no email for Syracause and no info on the Cane portal might mean bad news??? or maybe at best, wait listed? Could no information after 3 waves mean anything else? We are trying to remain hopeful, but so far havent been very lucky in this whole process :frowning:

I’m not so sure 3 waves went out from Syracuse yet? Yesterday was the first I saw anyone post so I was thinking the three waves might be the 21, 28, and 4th? We haven’t heard either.

I have heard more than a few times Syracuse is in waves on Fridays. I’m not sure about Miami but I’m sure others chime in. Best of luck!

Fingers and toes crossed for everyone.
