Class of 2018 (yikes!) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

Gentleman’s Guide is fantastic! The singing is great, and Jefferson Mays’ acting is superb. He should win best actor for that role!

Ok here’s my list
Raisin in the Sun
A Gentlemen’s Guide
Realistic Joneses
Of Mice and Men
Mothers and Sons
Waiting for Godot
Plus Phantom and Les Mis….I think we can do it!

Hope you get to see them all, bisouu!

@bisouu - how long are you there? And many theatres are dark on Mondays so plan around that.
But that’s a good list.
We got to get back to seeing some shows now that we are done auditioning!!

Arrive Monday and leave the following Monday…we would have to do matinees both Saturday and Sunday…it all depends on how determined she is… :)

Every theatre student, and theatre fan, for that matter, should take the opportunity to see classics like Waiting for Godot and/or Of Mice and Men, when there are such excellent productions of them available.

In the same way, new musicals which are original should be celebrated and supported, so my choice would be If/Then.

That is also on our list! They have a Thursday matinee so we possible see that too…

I love your list! Gentleman’s Guide is a new musical as well getting very high praise. I met Steven Lutvak recently (He co-wrote the music and lyrics). He’s amazingly talented. Let us know what you think! Maybe we need to start a new thread to discuss current shows. It would definitely give everyone something to do to take our minds off the waiting.

Steven is amazing. He is also a great vocal coach. My daughter has had the opportunity to work with him. We also love Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder!

@bisouu The incomparable Audra McDonald in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.

@Bisouu, aren’t you also going to look at schools or is this a vacation?
Vacation sounds like a good choice though. Lol.

Well…since we have all rejections…we will just be visiting one school :(

@bissou My daughter just saw Hand to God and thought it was fantastic!

hi everyone…@bissou I just saw “Buyer and Cellar” and it was hysterical! BUT, I saw it with the original actor. The new one just started, and I can’t attest to his performance. You need to be a huge Barbra fan to really appreciate the show.

As I live in NY, I’ve seen MANY of the shows…so if you narrow it down, just ask me. Pippin was Fabulous!

Question for the masses: We, too, are waiting on Pace…so I’m hoping for a wait list spot. But, my nephew and others got emails from Miami yesterday, and checked their cane link portals and found out that they were admitted into the MT program. My daughter’s portal has NO info at all. Does this mean that there is still a chance? or does it mean that it’s a “no”? or could it be a wait list? soooooo confused!!!

I’m sorry @Bisouu; I thought you were still waiting to hear from some schools. My question came off badly. Open mouth insert foot.

Oh we are still waiting…but not expecting any acceptances and won’t visit unless we get a yes… and @dramamom your questions was fine please don’t worry :)

oh good. We are going to be in NYC on wednesday. Voice lesson starting back up for the D. I was thinking of trying for lottery show tickets. Now that I can walk at a fast pace again, I could manage to try for two lotteries while D is in lesson!

There’s a great app called Today Tix for the iPhone …check it out many of the prices are the same as student rush or lottery ;)

@bisouu, don’t lose hope…we weren’t expecting any acceptances either and AMDA came through. Some of these schools have proven to be disorganized, to say the least.

There’s also an app for the TKTS ticket booth in Times Square for the half-price tickets so you can see what they are offering that day before you walk over there.
