Class of 2018 (yikes!) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

Broadway 95. What a great idea!!! So glad to see so many fellow costumers. Interesting how we’ve made a secondary life through this experience. I even found out I know how to paint–ok I’m crying again. Not cool!

I know things happen for a reason and our children end up where they are supposed to be…but… Chapman BFA was my daughter’s first audition of the season (EA). She was deferred to RD. Then she was wait listed….Today she was offered admissions to Chapman but has declined their offer. Would have saved a ton of money and heartache if they just would have admitted her EA!! There …. I feel better…

It is so crazy how this happens. Don’t you wonder why things happen the way they do? We have to believe they are where they are suppose to be. The very night my son decided on Ithaca the Dean from NYU MT Department called him personally to congratulate him on his acceptance. I am thinking what the heck does this mean. WE just put it out of our mind he had already committed and then hit that decline button an hour later.

My D was on a waitlist for a school she REALLY thought she wanted- when she made her decision (and we hit “accept” her next step was to call the waitlist school and ask to be taken off the list- she didn’t want to muddy the water.

We should have done that…it dropped off our radar to be honest. It only muddied my water LOL My daughter was firm in her decision which helped me to realize she knows better than I do :)

I guess I made a boo boo and posted something not allowed because it was deleted. But I think it’s an extremely important read for our kids and ourselves as parents. My dear friend posted her first entry on her blog and it is heart wrenching. Not sure how to link you to it without getting in trouble. Her name is Eden Espinosa and she blogged on tumblr. I hope you will take the time to find it and read it. Let me know if you were able to find it with just the info I gave.

We did that as well toowonderful…all my S ever talked about was CCM. Aubrey Berg emailed him indicating he was moving to the waitlist candidates and wanted to know if S was still interested, literally the day he decided on Otterbein. We did not to get caught up in “its a sign”, my S asked to kindly be removed. I think part of him still wonders if he would have got in but I’m sure that will dissipate in the coming months.

Bisouu I was able to find it through a search and I agree it was a powerful read. A very important reminder for our budding artists whose self esteem is so tied to their talent and success to remember what is truly important in life!

A little update to this thread - D received a call today (it’s July) from the dean of the North Carolina School of the Arts and she is accepted!!! This is her top choice school. What a roller coaster, but I am glad we didn’t get off! <:-P

Yay!!!

You and D’s head must be spinning!! So happy for you both!!

Wonderful news! Just when we all thought we had seen and experienced it all – now this! If the torture is to continue, let it be this kind of torture!

Many congrats!! Game changers can come at any time :)
