Class of 2019 (the journey begins) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

Congrats @shopforpunky‌ !!!

If portal checking was a crime- they would have had to re-open alcatraz for me last year :))

I just checked our Rider portal and it is still under review too

@MTnewbie1 I agree completely! It is sooooo comforting to come to CC and commiserate or celebrate with people who are going through the same process. I don’t want to bore my friends talking about something they don’t even begin to understand. So I also thank all of you for offering support and tons of great advice for people like me.
I hope we all get some good news today or in the near future. Salud! <:-P I really want an emoji raising a glass of wine for my toast. Didn’t find one, so this is the best I can do.

Keep checking @my97MTbaby‌ !!! @Patrice13 - I want an emoji raising a margarita glass with salt on rim!

You will also need your CC friends in coming years to commiserate about in-college auditions, summer stock casting, professional opportunities and an ongoing series of actorly highs and lows. I IM my CC friends before my mom sometimes when I need to vent about this or that.

Congrats @addicted2MT and @shopforpunky‌ on the Rider acceptances. Also congrats to all the Penn State acceptances yesterday!!! So happy for all of you

I’m making myself wait for 2 hours to check the portal again! Keep making deals with myself! Glad I’m not alone!

Yes from Rider for D! Where is that margarita glass emogi? <:-P
Congrats to all the Penn State admits.

Just checked again. Same. Need to buy stock in a vineyard

Congratulations to everyone for your yeses today. And congratulations for getting to this point with some sense of humor! I will be in this process next year, Fall seems like it will be here tomorrow. I read, research, create my spreadsheets, read some more. I have laughed and learned and felt disappointment while reading all of these posts this past year. Hoping all of you will be around to continue to guide me and D next year. In the meantime, I am cheering for all of you while on my sideline.

@momm2four. I would have been lost without the veterans!!! Here for you now…will be here for you later!!! Queue
“We Are Family…”

^^^ Yes! Absolutely!

I’m a lurker, which makes me feel a little guilty. I share in the emotion of what is posted and I benefit from the wealth of knowledge, but I rarely post and show support. Please know I’m pulling for everyone. I feel like I know everyone so personally. I’m always afraid I will say something that will identify S or myself. I’m also a little apprehensive about posting acceptances because I notice college staff monitor these boards. Are you ever afraid that something you say could identify you and sway the opinion of a school?

IfYouOnlyKnew, I THINK I was pretty careful about any identifying info until it was pretty much all over. Then I said something that made another member PM me and say, “Are you _____'s mom?” Lol. She was right. But there are so many talented kids with similar skills and similar types who even go to the same camps/summer programs, that I think unless you say where you live or have your real name in your CC name, it is pretty impossible to figure out who is who just based on where they are applying/getting in/mom’s sanity level.

That was me, but in fairness, our kids have known each other for years.

Yeah, I really doubt a school would have figured it out…or bothered trying…

LOL, I never gave it a thought when I joined CC well before my D’s journey began. It didn’t take my Class of 2018 CC pals long not only to figure out who I was, but who my D was. Several people told me they had seen clips of her performances posted on YouTube (at least they were complimentary!). Eeek – busted! I still didn’t mind, because they’re friends, not foes. After D committed to attend Molloy/CAP 21, I started a thread about it that the school fairly quickly picked up on. Still friends and not foes, but lesson learned.

Congratulations to all who are getting a clearer vision of where your kids may spend the coming four years, and hang in there to those who don’t yet know! As has been said, it’s a long road into a small theatre world and I am very glad to have so many of you in our mutual support group.

It seems that the posters here come from supporting communities, that has not been my experience, so that may amplify my cautiousness. Just know, I’m the best silent cheerleader you will all have. I try to like a post every now and again so you know I’m reading and supporting. Congrats to everyone with great news recently.
