Class of 2019 (the journey begins) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

@MTmamabear – ask her permission, then open that sucker!

Or hold it up to the light and see if you can read it through the envelope.

I can’t see anything through the envelope. If I ask her she’ll say no and I want her to enjoy her last day anyway. She actually called me earlier and was in such a good mood. . .any chance it is good news??

Just Wow… I got hooked on this thread when it first started and can’t believe how emotionally invested I feel in the process of all these families. I keep checking to see how everyone is doing. As the mom of a (slightly shy) D in 10th grade I appreciate the honesty and advice so many have shared. I won’t be going through this craziness for a couple more years but thanks to all of you I won’t be nearly so naive going into it. I am already practicing the dialogs in my head for the rejections that are on the horizon. You are an eloquent and thoughtful group. Thank you and know that many are pulling for you.

Welcome to the Real MARCH MADNESS, @MTMHopeful. :open_mouth:
And, we will be here for you when you are in the middle of it, too!

Ask stage2nature, @MTmamabear. They just got a letter today. More insight about the size of the envelope and the likelihood of it being good new or bad news.

MTHopeful, I am exactly the same way!!! My daughter is only a high school freshman, so we won’t be involved in this process for a few years yet…but I keep checking this thread obsessively all day, on the edge of my seat to see who gets in where, and keeping my fingers crossed for Divamamacita and KaKaMom and Carltonism and the others needing acceptances!!! Wishing EVERYONE the best result!!!

I don’t know what I would do without CC!! (And chocolate!)

@MTmamabear‌ my regular sized Belmont letter that I received today was a rejection. Maybe the acceptance letters are regular sized too though!

My daughter received so many rejections that by the end of the season she said that I could open them and tell her what they said. She didn’t even want to see them anymore.

Thanks @staage2nature! At least my D will be in good company!! There were a lot of Belmont rejections today

@MTmamabear … if one wanted to open an envelope without someone else not knowing, one might get an xacto knife.

And then with that xacto knife, one might split the seam of the BOTTOM of the envelope - right where the front and back meet.

And then one could easily slip out a letter and read it.

And one could then put the letter back in and use a tiny bead line of Elmer’s Glue to reseal the bottom.

I mean, if one wanted to read what was in the envelope.

Not that I EVER would do something like that … 8->

Steam, like from a tea kettle, works great too! Not that I have ever done that to a college admissions letter… :-"

Agreed, @bisouu…the first one was so bad; I’ll never forget her face. After the fourth one, she didn’t want to open any more, so I had to do it. I had to deal with the redirects, too…she just couldn’t. And of course, all of this fun came as rehearsals for her last HS show got into full swing. To make matters worse, the male lead got into the school she wanted, and she didn’t. Every time she had to sing and dance with him, lord knows what was going through her mind. But she never let it show, not for a second. Now that’s a pro. I was never prouder of any performance.

Thank you @MTVT2015‌ ! I’m not sure yet. Are you?

Our kids are amazing!! (But then, we knew that already)

I botched one of those jobs with a razor blade once and resorted to scotch tape. Fall out was pretty bad. I should have consulted CC, first.

@TNMTDAD…LOL. <:-P

@stage2nature‌ I’m thinking about it as well! My break isn’t until late April though, so it might make more sense to visit then.

To chime in on the covert openings of certain items delivered in envelopes… NOT that I have any personal knowledge of this technique…however, if a certain envelope was to have steam along the bottom “v” and a little knife help to budge it open…I’ve been told the “v” would be in tact and then a simple “repressing” of that area could be applied and no one knows… But… I think I might personally take a pic and send it saying… If i don’t hear back from you in 1 minute I’m asssing you’re goid with me opening it… But… I’ve never done either.
