What a crazy day! Heard from 4 schools: 2 acceptances, 1 rejection, 1 wait list! Thank goodness for all of you here on CC, how else would I know to check online portals so early or to tell S to check spam folder for CCPA e-mail…
I’m happy for all you guys with good news today!!
Yay!!!
D and I were talking about her talking a year off before starting college. It may be a possibility.
So she says,
D: “So what do I wear to the Senior Banquet?”
(All the kids wear shirts from the schools they’ll be going to.)
D: “Oh I know! A shirt from The Gap!”
=))
@KaMaMom - That’s a good one!!
I can see where a gap year could really be a helpful thing for some students. My '13 daughter probably would have benefited, but she had to sort of learn the hard way so that her “gap year” ended up being a leave of absence instead.
What a day!!! Congratulations to all. @KaMaMom…we’re all waiting with you. And this place will explode with cheers whatever/whenever the final decision for your daughter is made. Hugs
Well, when it rains, it pours. Here’s another one. D got this email from Coastal Carolina today. “…you are placed on our priority wait-list. This is not an extensive list, so please know that you are still strongly in consideration for our program.” I appreciate them telling her that their list is not extensive. A nice touch…
Got the same thing here. … apparently it’s extensive. lol
I love the idea of a shirt from The Gap! So nice that you are keeping a sense of humor. Rooting for your daughter. I am convinced something will work out for her. It may be different than what was first planned, but it will all be good in the end.
Priority wait-list for Costal Carolina for D too! Hope we see you all there! Also got into Missouri State , which is an awesome program! Very impressed at their presentation and their price!
@pghmusician…you always make me LOL!
Rough night. D cam home from school trip to the rejection letter from Belmont and a rejection email from CCPA (her dream school). That’s a lot for one day. She’s still waiting on one school but its a long shot. She says she’ll be ok. Its so hard to watch them give up a dream they worked so hard for.
My son and his friend both got waitlisted for CCPA. Does anyone know how extensive CCPA’s waitlist it?
If everyone here posts their waitlists on the new thread, we might get some sort of idea. It will just be sample of course, but I urge you to go post there so we can keep track as much as possible.
are you talking about the thread I just attempted to create or another one?
In my opinion…, whatever happens during this crazy process does not mean these kids need to give up their dream!
I realize getting the training at school in this profession is awesome, it is not the only way to get training. Also, many performers did not go to school and graduate with a BFA or BA in the performing art arena. Just saying. All these kids are so talented, they will put those talents to use in whatever they chose to do.
I agree. I didn’t mean “the dream” but “the dream school” Found a quote today that I need to keep repeating to myself. “Where you go is not who you are”
@MTmamabear I did post that after reading your post but it wasn’t meant as an attack on you. I know the “I guess I need to change my major” convetsation has been mentioned at our house and others. Brutal process…but not the end of the road for a future in this crazy business… just maybe not the path you once thought about. Even Billy from Family Circus gets to his destination eventually.
So sorry MTmamabear! It is excruciating when you know your child is feeling rejected and questioning if they’re good enough. I think most of the people frequenting this site have felt your pain at some point in this process. I know I have. I’m always boosted by the stories people post about how they didn’t end up in a BFA program, but are now successfully working in the field they love. I’m sure you D will find her way!
@MTmamabear does your daughter have any schools (safeties) that she likes?
@MTnewbie1 - I LOVED that cartoon! Great analogy.
Hate getting rejected
