Class of 2019 (the journey begins) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

@MTmamabear‌ my daughter thought that a specific school was her dream school. It turns out that her dream will not to be the school that she had in her mind, and even better than she had imagined. Good luck to your kiddo! I see that you read the NYT article. It’s a fantastic read. Ds close friend also had many rejections and yesterday got into Emerson! Keep keeping on. She will be ok! Future DePaul theater parent. (BFA Costume Design)

I am so thankful for all of you, I haven’t posted much just been lurking. My daughter has gotten her fair share of rejections, and even though it is all part of it, it still sucks!!! My friends with kids who are in college to be teachers and accountants don’t get it.

@bisouu She was accepted at Columbia College Chicago and she really loved it when we visited. Has anyone had experience with them?

Thanks for the all of the support on this thread!! I know we will be the ones posting next year that “it all worked out”

@MTmamabear‌ , I don’t know much about it other than a girl who goes there for singing/songwriting goes there and loves it. I do know that my D’s coach said that, since next year it is moving to an audition for BFA before freshman year, it’s going to become more competitive, so this year would be a good year to go!

Thanks @myloves! My D is going to audition for the BFA program in April. (They offered that option this year). I hope that was a good decision on our part. . .

Any thing further from Ball State? I know Priority Waitlist calls started Monday but have not heard of any more rejection emails, acceptances, etc. I know several of us are still waiting……

Is anyone else still waiting for Hartt?

yes, we have not received a response from Hartt.

@mtmamabear I have heard GREAT things about Columbia College. Aidy Bryant went there! (SNL) http://www.colum.edu/academics/alumni/aidy-bryant.html

How were people notified from Hartt?

@Martin snail mail

I know of two people who had to call Hartt to get their status. They are apparently not the most organized of schools.

We visited Columbia in Chicago last year and reviewed the faculty and it is good. We saw a play at the Goodman and it was directed by a faculty member at Columbia and was excellent. Columbia is a good option.

@jkellynhthanks for the info on Hartt. Also, great advice about the waitlist issue. My son has already reached out to and heard back from CCPA. Thanks again!

Hartt was very disorganized last year and letters of denial didn’t reach us until after April 1

^Similar experience with Hartt in 2013; my son actually withdrew his application in mid-March, received an acknowledgement by email, and then was still getting mail from them in late April.

still waiting for Hartt here, too.

So is anyone else still waiting for Ball State??

Anyone else waiting on TCU??
