My daughter has heard nothing from Hartt. LA Unifieds. I noticed that about Hartt as well. Do they not take kids from the LA Unis? Or did no one on CC go to LA Unis?
Thanks @KaMaMom for your comment about wanting a choice. I was feeling guilty about wanting that too. My D is still waiting on one school. She loves her âsafetyâ school, but I wanted HER to be able to make the decision Iâd like at least one part of this process to be in her control at this point. ( But Iâd also like world peace, a winning lottery ticket at and a pony)
^^^ Donât forget the unicorn! [-O<
@cpotgis and @bellesmom My S has heard nothing from Hartt as well, and he auditioned back in the fall. He received a letter stating he met the academic requirements months ago. The promise is that all letters will be out by April 1st. Unfortunately, my S will be visiting a couple schools where he has been accepted to try to finalize his decision. He had really hoped to hear from Hartt before he left. I have asked him to take Hartt off his list of potential schools because he has other choices from schools that have been more engaged with him. He just really loved his audition experience and what he learned about the program and wants to keep Hartt in consideration until he gets an official no. Ugh!
We are looking at UC Irvine or Cal State Fullerton. Everything else has been waitlist or no. My daughter is actually taking it very well and is excited about Irvine. She wants the option to CHANGE her major (after all weâve been through!) and wants to be at a good academic school if that becomes something she decides to do. I think this whole process has been more stressful for me than her! I donât much about either program though⊠(not that some of the schools are not good academicallyâbut some of her choices would have made it very difficult to change to, say, biology!)
I posted this on the school specific thread but I need to âventâ on here. Come on Carnegie Mellon! Whatâs with the cruelty? The decisions have been known for a couple of weeks. They were snail mailed on Wednesday. Which, depending on the reliability of the US Postal Service means they will arrive between yesterday and tomorrow (if you are lucky). The portal is supposed to go âliveâ with decisions tomorrow (3/28) but CMU doesnât tell us if that is 12:00 am or 11:59 pm or someplace in between. Just let us know if we won the lottery or not! I need a donut!!
I saw yesterday someone post via Twitter they were accepted to cmu MT⊠But she did not indicate whether it was a phone call or emailâŠ
As far as I know the acceptances have come by mail but there could be others out of the CC universe, of course.
They are calling acceptances today
Tisch decisions are up on the portal!
I got into Tisch!!! My only BFA acceptance!!! Iâm so happy!!!
That happens a lot @mtsc13 congrats!!! NYU comes through for a lot of kids!
Lurker here. I have a ballet dancer who is suddenly jumping into the musical theater world. Very late starter as this is now her senior year. Has always loved it but never believed it was a possibility for her until she was recently convinced to try voice lessons. What a difference! Not applying to any programs at this time as she has decided to continue her training in both ballet and musical theater and continue earning college credits online for the meantime. Still, Iâve been lurking here because I can see her going this direction.
This weirdness with positive feedback more than implying an acceptance is something she saw recently in the ballet world. Was kept after an audition for a summer program and told they were interested in her for more than summer. Theyâd like to see her in the year round trainee program. We know two others who were kept from an audition from the same school/company. Each got hefty scholarships for summer and acceptance to the year round program. Ddâs email results come in⊠you guess it⊠not accepted to even the summer program! It was only crushing because it was her safety. She was accepted elsewhere with scholarship (not so readily available in the ballet world for girls, so it was an especially nice surprise after the other rejection).
Back to lurking and cheering you all on! Very grateful for all the information on this forum.
Has anyone ever heard of The Young Americans Theatre Company?
@origamimommyâ If you mean the one in Seattle, yes, Iâm familiar with it. My S was in one of their plays last year and several kids from his school have been heavily involved as well.
My D auditioned at LA and has not heard anything either.
We are done â no from Syracuse. All thirteen answers are in 2 yeses, 2 waitlists and 9 noâs. Now to figure out what to do â wasnât counting on the waitlist conundrum â but there we are. This should be an interesting few weeks!
@Divamamacita. We are in the same boat. 2 acceptances, 2 waitlists and a pile of rejections in the fireplace waiting to get lit up later today. My D is going to visit Hartt for a âshadow-a-student dayâ to sit in on classes and meet faculty and potential classmates. We have heard so many great things about the program both from former students and from professionals working in the field that she is really getting excited about it, but I would be lying if I didnât say that this process has been very tough (on both of us). We understood the numbers and the competition going in, and she knew this is just a preview of what it is like to be a professional in this field. All of these are intellectually understood, but until your heart is living it, it is not something you can truly wrap your head around. The waitlists definitely add an extra element of âbeing in limboâ that is hard to digest, especially when one of them has been your top choice since the journey began. I am still hopeful that she will get in, but want her to be committed to where she already has been accepted so she can feel really good about what she accomplished (which was terrific and should be celebrated). Anyway, I ramble. If you plan on visiting Hartt PM me about the date and maybe our Ds can meet up. Mine would really like to start making connections. .
Weâre visiting /re-visiting schools now, and if it is possible for you, I highly recommend sitting in on classes and spending time with current students if you havenât had the opportunity to do so already. I am finding that it is giving D clarity that she did not have before.
