Class of 2019 (the journey begins) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

I’m so glad somebody got it, @GSOMTMom. I can still Youtube those videos when I want a good laugh!

You are welcome! Please do feel free to contact me if you do not receive notification this week. There were some letters and emails we sent to EA admits that they did not receive.

Sent out our first decline to an MT program tonight. I agree with the rest of you, it is kind of hard to turn it down after all of the blood, sweat and tears that went into the process. Still praying for some WL movement!

@TNMTDAD–there are quite a few people in the program who work! It’s actually been hard to become eligible for work-study on campus for the past few years, but there are work positions on campus (the bookstore, food service, the Fine Arts Center) that don’t require work-study eligibility. It’s true, it’s hard to make work happen with the MT schedule, but “where there’s a will, there’s a way” is practically the motto of the department…it can be done! As always, PM me if you’d like to chat more in depth about it. We’ve had admitted MT and Acting students taking tours and shadowing us almost every other day for the past couple of weeks–we can’t wait to meet your D this fall!

Thanks so much, @CanadianMTgirl. Good advice. I guess she’ll know better once she is on campus and in the thick of things. Thanks again for the advice and good luck with tours and the rest of the semester. Sorry we couldn’t make it to The Mikado. I bet it was awesome.

Another day without a letter from JMU theatre… we are going crazy in our house

Same here with Hartt.

No word from Hartt either. My D called today and said we should be hearing by the end of the week.

Waiting on Hartt too

I’m also waiting on Hartt. Is it assumed at this point that they are just waiting to send out a group of all the rejections?

Has anyone heard from Drake they were a walk-in for me, but I still haven’t gotten a response from them…

Heard that NYU decisions are out. Friend of D just posted on FB. Fingers crossed for those waiting.

@TNMTDAD, NYU decisions came out last Friday in a drawn out, tournament fashion where rejections and waitlists were released in waves, starting at 1:00 AM, and lasting until 8:00 AM. NYU had put out a message that email notifications would come out prior to and following a customary US NY school day. The NYU CC forum was crazy with postings of rejections, fallen comrades, waitlisted, and those who had yet to hear. Many students remarked that it was like The Hunger Games. Around 1:30 PM, an intrepid student discovered that our portals could lead to Accepted Student events, then just as quickly, it all went away. Promptly at 3:00 PM, green ‘Acceptance Decision’ buttons were added to the portals of accepted students. It felt like a tournament where we made it to the final round! Shortly after, the email from the University arrived with the offer of acceptance. Studio placement emails are to come mid-April.

Oh thanks, @wearcollege. It was just the first thing that I had seen posted on Social Media, and I hadn’t seen anything posted here on CC. Heck. If someone has gotten accepted at NYU, they need to post. That’s big stuff! : ) Love your rundown of how the results were released.

I am re-reading your post, @wearecollege. Haha. What an event. I guess I wasn’t checking the NYU specific threads.

There are lots of NYU acceptances on the “MT Acceptances for the Class of 2019 by School Name” thread

Good Lord. How did I miss those? Headed over there now, @lojosmo. Thank you. : )

D does not want to do the Northern Kentucky audition this weekend - I can’t say that I blame her. The whole year has been pretty emotionally exhausting for her and she sees that the end is in sight.

Add to that that she spent the last hour speaking w/ one of her friends in the theatre program at SIU who told her great things, that she would love it, she’d fit right in w/ the BFAs, etc etc.

I think she’s done.

Yay!!!^^^^

@KaMaMom – congratulations on a race well run. A marathon to be sure! I am so glad your girl found her place!
