Oh, avocado on toast with a little salt. Yeah, I can do that too!!!
@SJBmab regarding JMU - my son received an email yesterday that he had been accepted into the MT program at JMU. He received the academic acceptance via portal last week.
Donuts sound good. My D got her last rejection today. So weâre done. Its been a loooong journey, thanks to everyone who helped make it easier.
@cbdawg12, thank you! D got the academic, but no email. We will keep an eye out- Congrats to your son!!
Blueberry cake donut please. Donât need it, but who cares with all of those chocolate/peanut butter eggs during this season. Any more final decisions? I canât wait to read and rejoice with everyone.
Definitely sour cream. Last year, knowing the entire year would be stressful, I stuffed the diet guidelines deep in the back of the closet. By June it really showed (and I was doing SO well. . . ) A year later, Iâm mostly back on the wagon, but the sour cream donuts at local 24-hr bakery between our house and Sâs college are to die for. And the apple fritters, custard filled, red velvet, butter twists. . .
In all truth, I can walk past donuts all day long. Itâs those damn chocolate chip cookies in the teachersâ lounge. Theyâre like crack.
âŠand I seriously go out for ice cream every other day at least. Donuts are a nice substitute sometimes, though! Chocolate chip cookies, too⊠Ok, almost anything with chocolate! Yes, I have a sweet thing every dayâcollege audition season or not. Hmm⊠Maybe I have a problem, ha ha!
Thatâs why I love the bumper sticker, âSave the Earth. Itâs the only planet with chocolate!â
Hereâs a real post. Not that chocolate isnât important. We got Dâs financial package, and although D got a healthy scholarship, I was really shocked that we did not qualify for some work-study. Two-teacher income household. Trust me. We are not living the life of luxury. All we got was access to the two loans. Any thoughts? Donât they usually include everything for which you qualify in âthat letter?â Not that MT students have time, but I thought it would be nice for D to have a way to be invested in her own future and success. I guess she can get a part-time campus job if time permits. Rumor has it that MT kids donât have time to breathe. Weâll see soon enough. Getting exciting.
I know this wonât help this year @TNMTDAD but I am like you a teacher (single) and we did not qualify for anything. My daughter applied to be an RA for her sophomore year and was accepted. That will save me about $11,000 next year. That is the best work study around
@Bisouu â My daughter wanted to RA, but the RA program and the school she wants to attend donât play well together from a time commitment standpoint. Bummer!
@TNMTDAD - I know at Dâs campus it seems the nearby businesses LOVE to hire performers (including health clubs, a high-end telemarketing firm and lots of retail and restaurants) so depending on her campus location she may have no problem finding a non-work-study job that might pay better and may also possibly fold into a future survival job.
Ooooo. That sounds nice! I will definitely have her look into that possibility, @bisouu. Thanks for the tip!
As Wanda from In Living Color used to say, âAsk and ye shall receive, ye shall.â Thanks @MomCares. Wonderful suggestion, too.
Some of my Dâs classmates have jobs at the theater on campusâŠalso ideal for an MT major. I doubt these were work-study jobs, and even if they wereâŠif you donât ask, you donât get!
@SJBmabâ snail mail letters for Dance, Musical Theatre, and Theatre went out last week in small batches Tuesday through Friday. With Musical Theatre going out last. So, depending on the mail, and the batch they went out in, they should arrive this week. If it does not arrive by Thursday, please call me at 540-568-6009, or email me at arecchkm@jmu.edu, and I can check for you.
Students admitted to the Musical Theatre program through RD were emailed last night. I do not believe that emails have gone out to Theatre admits yet⊠and some students who auditioned for both MT and Theatre are admitted for Theatre. I am not sure about Dance Program admits.
@KatMT, thank you for this information - very helpful and appreciated.
@TNMTDADâ , you had me at Wanda from In Living Color!! =))
@KatMTâ Thanks so much for the info!
