Loved that, @KaMaMom – funny, but 100% true!
Just double checking…we have until midnight tomorrow to make a deposit, correct?
Hey, Peeps. The deposit to hold an offer is due tomorrow night before midnight, right? Checking for a friend. I’m sure someone will know for sure here. Gracias.
@martin247998 I was surprised to find out that for Boston. Conservatory we had only until midnight tonight! But I think each college may b different
The motto resurfaces “each school is different”. Call the schools to be sure AND on the safe side.
Thanks, @GSOMTMom. I contacted someone at the school in question. It is school relevant.
I won’t lie, just saw the Class of 2019 pictures for CCM, and it was a little bittersweet. Good thing D is not second guessing her decision.
I just saw it too and thought of your D!
I don’t mean to complain (a lot), but I was hoping there would be more updates to final decision and background threads… Guess we are all busy with graduation stuff. D’s last day, tomorrow is the picnic and she wears her LIU Post shirt!
When/where do those “Class of 2019” pictures get posted? I’ve only seen CCM but I’m sure other schools do this.
Last year either a current student or an incoming student created the collage. I’m sure it’s the same for this year. The schools don’t seem to do it.
Correction: The D’s school did provide the headshots to the incoming student who did the collage. So schools may be involved, but I think someone has to volunteer to do it.
Yes, the students are doing the collage. For CCM one of the students collected the head shots from all the kids and made the collage. At the same time CCM put the headshots they have on their website. I also saw a collage for Baldwin Wallace, I hope to see many more
D found a roommate over the weekend … yay! That was a fairly big missing piece for her. Most of her non-MT friends had made roommate matches over the last couple of months and it was beginning to really stress her out. She had lucked out twice at summer programs with AWESOME roommates and was scared she’d get a clunker this time around.
They found each other on social media and dare I say - it seems like a match made in heaven.
Everything seems to be coming together! And we are on graduation countdown … one month from tomorrow is graduation.
I’m trying to make a collage for my class but apparently we are 51 (twice as big as the will-be sophomores) and I don’t know how to get all the head shots!
Wow! Twice as many as last year?
Wow, indeed. It would be interesting to know if that happened by design or if they totally miscalculated their yield. If not intentional, that could present some real concerns re: staffing, curriculum delivery, facility capacity, etc.
What school? @MTVT2015
I say this at the risk of being called-out but want to see if others agree. I have come to really believe that the choice of school, degree and to go to school or not mean much less than we would like it too when it comes to “success.” For example, I would love to say that my D’s BA program is fantastic because it produced some heavy duty Broadway talent. But the simple truth is those people were going to be stars no matter where they went to school. I am sorry to say that I really believe you either have the “IT” factor or you don’t. Training is wonderful and I am a big fan (obviously since we used MTCA) and I am an even bigger fan of college. But at the end of the day for most of our kids they either got it or they don’t. That is why in over 40 years of collecting playbills and reading where people went so school you see approximately the same amount of BFAs, BAs, AMDA/CAP 21 types, and no school. This includes playbills from NY, London, Chicago and Seattle. Am I the only one?
@evilqueen, I think that research into this subject on a broader scale agrees with you. Most studies have not uncovered any correlation between school and success. On a broad scale, when test scores are taken into account, similar students do about the same whether they went to Harvard or not.
