I’ll be there to see D in Hair. I may breeze through the audition building to sneak a peak. ;)

@sydism Your daughter will be in the show??!! Fantastic! Who is she playing? We will be there, I’d love to meet you!

I have a quick pre-screen question… I have been filming for the past two weekends with my coach and the quality of the videos has been fairly good so far. But for one video, the camera didn’t focus properly so it came out blurry, and this was the video where both my coach and I agreed that I sounded and performed the best
Do you think it matters about the blurriness or could I still use it even though my other videos are of better quality? Thanks in advance!!!

@Roro101 I believe the purpose of a prescreen is for the university to get a perspective of who you are and what your type is and if you would fit into their program. If the blurriness affects the university to judge any of those things i’m afraid they would probably say no. I would really say it depends on how blurry it is, some universities say they don’t care but others prefer better quality. (UMich, Otterbein) There is a lot of prescreen videos on youtube from years past so you can kind of see what others look like, maybe those will help determine. Hope this helped

@MTkellbell , yup my D is in Hair. She plays one of the “Supremes” and is part of the ensemble. We are so happy that she gets to be on the stage at all!

I would love to meet you too! It was only eight months ago that I was in your shoes and I would have loved to speak with parents of present students.

Anyone know when Ithaca is going to respond y or n if passed their prescreen? All the others my son is waiting for have given time frames…

@sydism We will be in town on Friday eve, and then auditioning on Saturday, and seeing the show Sat 15th evening. My daughter is hoping to talk to current students, and I’m hoping to talk to current “parents”! So I would be interested in meeting with you! But for now,I would grateful for any info you can remember about the audition day itself so my d will know what to anticipate! Thanks!

Looking back at last years thread (under Ithaca) it was their first year of prescreens. So who knows, maybe they will change things this year. But, it appeared results were given via audition request order, not submission order necessarily. Some of those with unified audition requests did not hear until the second week of January! (Which makes it very difficult when one is juggling multiple audition spots during Unifieds.) But I am not sure if those folks also submitted later. Like you, not sure what to expect with that school. The good news, it seemed like all (of those who commented) passed their prescreen.!

Last year my D submitted for Ithaca at end of October- had heard by 1st of December. We were a Chicago Unified audition

Thanks everyone :-)

OK… all has been so quiet on the “prescreen” front. Getting antsy. Has anyone heard from Ithaca, Elon, BW,FSU, or TX State lately? We submitted on the 15th of October…

Elon is supposed to notify 11/3. Texas State’s website says 7-10 day from submitting. We heard from BW fairly quickly… but we also wanted the 11/15 date. That might’ve been a factor…

@MTkellbell my D just got her auditon confirmation yesterday from BW. (It is for the Nov 15 date). She submitted all of her pre-screens the last couple of days in Sep. We have heard from BW, Otterbein, Coastal and TSU. (TSU was a no, so if you haven’t heard anything yet, maybe that is good). Received an email last week from FSU that they were reviewing videos this week, so I think we may hear next week. Not sure how each school operates. Rejections first? In order of audition date request? Who knows?!!! The waiting truly sucks though!!

UGGG, waiting ,waiting!!! It’s getting the best of me! So far we have Coastal, Pace, Penn and Shenandoah=yes and Otterbein=no. 5 down, 5 to go!

I think it helps having an expected notification date (like Elon) so that you don’t have to check email every day and stress out. I wish everyone would do it that way. So far S is 3/4 (Shenandoah, Coastal, BW - yes, Otterbein - no) with 3 outstanding (U of M, TSU and Elon). @MTRaleighmom… see you at BW on the 15th? We’re seeing Chorus Line on Friday night.

@mtmom2015 yes…we will see you on the 15th! I was just talking to my D about Chorus Line. I know some schools provide auditionees with tickets to performances. Do you know if BW does that? We definitely want to see it & I don’t want to wait too long to get tickets.

Just got my D’s confirmation for her BW audition for 2/14. She was part of the Musical Theatre Overtures program over the summer and their prescreens were waived. So, still just waiting on Ithaca.

LOL MTmom2015, your post made me laugh. If these programs gave a hoot about our stress levels, they sure have a funny way of showing it! And yeah an expected date is nice…until they go 2, 3, 4 weeks over that date. :((

@MTMajorCook knows the answer to your question, @MTRaleighmom! If memory serves me correctly, they provided a ticket to the auditioning student, but not the parent and the show was just about sold out, so you may want to check now.

Right S got a ticket last year but I had to be on a waitllist, I remember we all thought it was funny I was on a waitlist LOL BW’s fall show was in the round last year though so I think there were less seats available. Email the theatre dept I’m almost positive I did or S got an email shortly before the audition asking if he wanted one. @kategrizz D is performing gotta go see her while you are there!!
