Funny you should mention the fall show at BW @MTMajorCook … We waited too late to get tickets last year and didn’t get to see Carousel! My D is in the Friday and Sunday shows. Thursday and Saturday are the other cast.

@MTkellbell , I actually still have the audition day schedule.
Sign in started at 8:30. We were late because I thought things started around 9. We missed the welcome from the faculty at 8:45. There was a campus tour at 9 and a student panel at 10 where everyone sat in a circle and talked. The students talked about their experiences, a faculty member gave information and prospective students and parents asked questions.

There was a group warmup at 11:00 for 15 minutes, then they were taken to their specific audition time in 7 minute increments. Parents sat out in the lobby during this time.

A lovely lunch was served from 12:15-1:00 where faculty walked around and mingled with us, followed by a movement workshop, dance workshop and then acting workshop. Parents were allowed to watch, but hubby and I walked around a little and spoke with other prospective parents during this time. We did join the acting workshop towards the end and saw the faculty working with a few students on their monologues.

Ken Martin gave a final talk and things were wrapped up around 5.

We saw a fantastic performance of Into the Woods that night. It was a fantabulous day! Going into the audition, my D had CCU as her #1 and leaving it, there was no #2, 3 or 4! Thank God she got in!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn West, which was nice, but have since transferred to Sonesta Suites.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I can talk about CCU all day. Or we can just talk at the auditions!

So excited to be packing for D’s Elon audition. Our flight is at 6:00 a.m. and we get in to Raleigh about 5:00 p.m. Spending Thursday touring campus and D will sit in on a class. Tickets to see Titanic that night. AHHHHHH! This is finally happening! Anyone else at Elon on Halloween?

@MTRaleighmom … I went ahead and bought two tickets for Chorus Line. Mine was $25, but his was only $10. I hadn’t heard anything about a comp ticket for him, so we just bought them. We really want to see kategrizz’s daughter (she and my S are friends) and I was afraid we wouldn’t get tickets if we waited. There were not a whole lot of tickets left last week when I got them.

Divamamacita, my daughter and I made the journey this time last time. The campus is so very beautiful. Great time and a great audition time to start her off. Have a great time and tell your Daughter to BAL. Great kids on campus.

Thanks, Puma69. So glad to have this show on the road!

@Divamamacita I’m planning to see Titanic on Friday night! I hear it’s great! BAL to your daughter!

My S is auditioning on 11/15 @ BW He has rehearsal on 11/14, so I don’t think we will be able to get to campus on time for Chorus Line
Supposed to hear from Elon by today and TSU by 10/31…Ugh the wait! BAL to all auditioning!!!

Welcome to my neck of the woods @Divamamacita! Sorry I will miss you this weekend. If you have time before you leave, my D will be home & the girls can catch up. Just have her text. You could stop by or meet for coffee. We are only 15 min from the airport. BAL to your D!!!

I have what is really a premature question - but thought I would put it out there for comment. Suppose your kid gets into a school academically, but not artistically. Is it possible to ask the school for a delayed start (to the next Fall - gap year) so that your kid can work on skills and re-audition? If possible, is it a good idea?

Does anyone know if UofM notifies on pre-screens through DecisionDesk or email? Thanks!

@hanaliy, imho it is not a good idea unless your child has no other acceptances. Putting all eggs in one basket is a recipe for emotional disaster. Be open. There are many wonderful programs out there and many paths to success.

@hanalily I second Calliene. I do know of a case where it worked out (a friend of D was not accepted into the BFA at UMinn, she went as a theater BA and was accepted into the BFA this year) but I would imagine odds to be small. Some schools really seem to actively court kids to come to the school anyway, in BA program or other major. (We had one school last year we had to ask to stop sending things) Other schools do not. I remember specifically with Ithaca- we were told at auditions NOT to go to the school and hope to transfer into the BFA - it wouldn’t happen…

Hanaliy, even if that were advisable, I do not think it is possible. I believe you would have to reapply to both the department and the school. (Although I think some schools will defer if they accept you entirely, and then between March and Sept you get a gig on Broadway lets say – it does happen at places like CMU… then they may wait for you.)

Hi I am new to this thread. My daughter is applying to some of the same schools. For prescreens she had Pace, Michigan, TSU, Ithaca,Marymount Manhattan and Penn State. We have yeses from Pace, Marymount M, and Penn State. Still waiting for Mich., Ithaca and TSU. @tmygirl how do you know when Texas State is letting you know about pre-screens? You are all right, the waiting is stressful! I want to be able to make travel plans.

@Patrice13 - this is only stage one of the waiting… it may (if your year is anything like mine was last year) be the primary activity of the year - complete with pins and needles… 8-}

Thanks @MTMajorCook and @GSOMTMom for the info! I went ahead and bought my tickets! We will be going Saturday night.

@Patrice13 - I heard from Texas State today that a decision had not yet been made on my son and that he would be contacted by them through Acceptd.

@MTLegacy - did you call them? Or did they just send you a message to update you?

@Patrice13 TSU said 2 weeks from submission of prescreens you will have a decision, same with Elon…Today is the 2 week mark for Elon…10/31 is the 2 wk mark for TSU… I have no idea about Ithaca… Ugh
