Class of 2019 (the journey begins) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

@addicted2MT‌ - thanks - now I want to puke! :open_mouth:

@addicted2MT‌ - they got a call on a passed prescreen or got accepted to the program? We are still waiting to hear yes or no on the prescreen.

Prescreen came via email (and getacceptd) for Elon. The only pre-screen phone call we got was from Shenandoah. The rest were electronic.

@MTDadandProud‌ - most definitely an acceptance.

MTmom2016,what did the Shenandoah phone call consist of? my D received her prescreen “yes” via email!

The Shenandoah phonecall was from Holly Standard (Admissions Events Coordinator) and basically covered everything that was said in the email (which came later that afternoon). She was very sweet… said they were ‘excited’ to tell him that he had passed the pre-screen and was invited to audition in-person. Is it unusual to get a pre-screen phonecall?

A phone call is quite unusual, @MTmom2015‌. What was also unusual last year was that the Shenandoah MT head emailed audition adjustments to some people before the audition. The D was one of them. Has that happened for anyone so far this year?

The one, two punch. D got a “no” from Elon this morning. Email through Acceptd. Not a good twenty-four hours. Here’s hoping others received better news. This is as hard emotionally as all of the elders have said.

So sorry to hear that @Divamamacita‌! Lots of hugs for your daughter and you! I remember this all too well.

@Divamamacita‌ ((HUGS)) so hard!!

@Divamamacita - I am so sorry, it is really hard. The early audition stuff is a gamble, b/c if you get good news it’s a huge boost, but the flipside is that unwelcome news is a big kick. My D did an early audition last year with several friends. Two were accepted in December; the others were deferred (one later became a yes and D later became a no) or rejected. It put strains on friendships (was the beginning of the end for D and a person she had been exceptionally close to for years) and feeds self doubt- which is never far away for most artists. I was terrified that it would throw off the next round of auditions. D had a couple dark days, but dug deeper and kept going. Now she says that was a pivotal moment for her- and that it was a good thing in the long run. Doesn’t make today hurt less- but hoping for good things in the next round for you and your D

@Divamamacita‌ Hang in there. It only takes one yes to put that smile right back on her face!
When did you submit the prescreen to Elon?

I wonder…is it better to be cut at the prescreen level or to actually go through the audition before hearing a ‘No’? Some schools feel like they will see so many kids in person whereas other schools really seem to cull heavily through the prescreen. And of course the schools without prescreens are seeing an enormous amount of kids. Good thing my daughter and I love to travel together…I know that I will really treasure the memories of this year when it’s over.

My "S got an e-mail saying he is “remaining in consideration.” He needs to let them know by January 20 if he wants to remain on the list, and they will give us answer by March 15.

@wearecollege this is so, so true! I sort of expected us to shall we say, encounter some mother/daughter difficulty during this time, but the exact opposite has come true. We have grown much closer and found that we are in truth fun travelling companions. (Or maybe D is just making the best of it, haha). But I agree, its actually been fun. Of course, its not winter yet.

I should have mentioned in my last post it was from Elon.

@wearecollege‌ I loved traveling the audition circuit with my S. We found ourselves to be very compatible travel companions and I enjoyed spending time with him entirely in his world before he went off on his own. Despite the stress and a few awful experiences, I wouldn’t trade one minute of that time with him! If I have one small piece of advice it is be in the moment and savor your time together. It goes by far too quickly.

Decided to book a 10-hour train ride to Chicago Unifieds instead of driving for that exact reason. Figured when’s the next chance we’ll ever have to do something like this again.

Just got a message on accepted saying I passed the Ithaca Prescreen! For those waiting still, check your inbox!

@GSOMTMom That’s weird. Now my brain is asking “What does that mean???” Probably nothing… Most likely I am WAY over-analyzing. Gah! This process is crazy!
