Interesting project --and one that assumes The Today Show will remain on the air for 13 years.

Today To Follow The Class Of 2020

No, NBC News isn’t following that 20/20.

In what NBC calls an “unprecedented undertaking,” the Today show will follow a class of kindergartners as they make their way through the education system from their first day of school through high school graduation.

The participating school is in the San Fernando Valley area of the LA Unified School District. In a release, NBC says “the elementary school is located in a diverse, middle-class neighborhood with a multicultural mix of white, Hispanic, Asian and African-American students as well as students of Middle Eastern descent.”

Today show EP Jim Bell says the series will offer viewers “a window into today’s public school system, and what educators and families are investing in their kids’ education.”

The first installment of the 13-year project airs this Friday on Today.

I loved Michael Apted’s “Up” films from the UK.
This should be interesting.
